What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

One can do both. I like my iWatch Ultra, the battery lasts long enough to charge in camp every other day (I charge daily though). And wear my other watches when going out etc..
There are horses for courses...that's for sure. One size (or style of watch) does not necessarily fit all. But one will have to make a compromise along the way depending on the choice. Cheers.

I'd like those looking to buy go into it with their eyes completely open to all the options.

May sound strange to most, but I have never owned a wrist watch in my life. Working on the ranch we got up and went to work until it was done. A watch was never that important I guess. I tried a pocket watch for a time but never really looked at it so I stopped packing it around.

@0002S - That watch looks so familiar. :ROFLMAO: One of my favorites and very light with the leather strap.

I’m a watch lover for sure. That said, I haven’t worn one since I retired in January of 2024. I’ve learned to stop and smell the roses.

Since my most recent hunting trip, when I was afraid that I will never find my way back to the ATV and using it civilization should my rather ill looking guide die on me, I have started to use a garmin Fenix watch for the built in GPS and other functionality....

I always wanted a GMT watch and finally bought a Seiko 5 GMT Automatic (SSK-005). I consider it my "travel" watch. I have the other time zone set on Africa time.

In the field, I prefer a simpler (and cheaper) watch like this Chinese-made Miltado quartz field watch. I have other field watches that I wear on a regular basis as well. If something happens to the Miltado, I am only out $40.

I still wear my old Suunto Core. I can't come around the the rechargeable digital watches.

Well I do have to say one thing about this thread is it’s made my interest in watches increase 100 fold , on the days when I am babysitting my Alzheimer’s patient mother in-law and watching YouTube safari videos to kill the boredom, I get to watch for all the watches people are wearing on safari and what the PH’s are wearing
( I also didn’t realize how many people on AH are YouTube celebrities with their safaris being used as content)

I’ve been looking around a few websites for watches, specifically Omega. I like a few of the older models no longer in production. There are seceral websites that have them, but I normally prefer to buy higher cost items in person. Can anyone share personal experiences with sites like watchfinder, bob’s watches, chronograph 24, etc? Mostly good reviews, except for those that feel like they got scammed. Never too sure about web based reviews anyway because it seems most folks happy with a purchase don’t bother to leave a positive review. Or maybe all the reviews are AI, who knows?
You can buy with confidence from DavidSW in Florida. Their HQ is 10 min from my office so I'm in there often. The guys are great to work with and only handle first class, as new product. I forget how many watches I've gotten from them personally and for friends. All of my Omegas have come from them. Worth stopping in if you're visiting the Orlando area. Ask for Mark, he's the manager.

While not in the same league as many of the timepieces here, here’s my latest addition, a Promaster that will see hunting service in 2026.

Automatic, durable, readable, accurate, ISO 6425 compliant, looks that are to my taste and a cool heritage link to the mighty Challenge of the 1970s - the Toyota Hilux of watches.

A lot of bang for the buck.

What strap did you put on this watch? Saw the post and bought one of amazon but I do not like the rubber strap it came with. Thanks!

Our friend @Altitude sickness recommend a young friend of his who is an excellent watchmaker! Calan is his name. He built this one for me. I received it yesterday and couldn’t be happier.

Yes Calan is a great guy to deal with
he built me a great watch, I think I might get him to over haul me a chronometer Krieger I just found on sale that needs new guts to get running

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
