I am a big .458WM fan and though I think I have what I want and need, I'd love to see pics of your 458's. I am especially interested in shorter and lighter builds. Any thoughts or reflections on your guns are also appreciated. I have posted one of mine that I bought here, but I don't have a current pic. I took the RDS off and am looking for a good full time rear ghost ring now, since the gunsmith I took it to messed up every aspect he possibly could, including the rear peep backup.

Some awesome rifles so far, thanks! Never saw one on a 1903 before, that is pretty cool. Any more detailed pics of it? Also, did you make that rifle stand? Looks great.

Roklok, which Mauser is that? Full custom or something else?

My R8 458 looks an awful lot like yours, lol. There are things I don't like about it and things I prefer on other rifles, but no big bolt rifle works quite as well for me as the R8. Fantastic shooter.

I feel the same way. I kind of don’t want to like it. But it does its job so well, I can’t help myself. They shoot so well and are so precisely built, they’re just hard to beat. Plus they are short and handy due to the action design. This 458 has a 23” barrel, yet it is as short as a 20” standard bolt gun.

Here is my takedown 458WM built on a Mauser action. 18 in barrel.

As a left-handed shooter, the choices for 458 Win Mags aren't as abundant. So I bought a Ruger M77 MkII in 7mm Rem Mag at a great price as a donor rifle to start with.

I used basic hand tools to install a couple of crossbolts.

I got McGowen to make me a 23" barrel with a #5 profile and a 1:14 twist. I used rasps and sandpaper to expand the barrel channel in the stock to free float it.

I added a Leupold 3x20mm Big Bore scope from their custom shop.

The first time I shot it, it did pretty well with 404gr Shock Hammers.

Having never shot a 458 Win Mag before, I didn't want to spend a ton of money on my first one. I just wanted to have an affordable usable rifle I could practice with & to figure out exactly how I'd like my next one to be configured. I enjoy plinking with it a lot. It's great for startling the suppressed AR-15 crowd at the local public shooting range.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.

I will take the knife for $250 shipped. Please tell me how you would like the payment.

Thanks-
