Let’s see, he navigated three aid packages through the House that have broad bipartisan support in the face of the anti-Israeli far left, the economic opportunists and appeasers of Xi on either side of the aisle, and in the face of the Trump political opportunists, Putin appeasers, and those who directly or indirectly support Russian interests within his own party. He managed to do it in the face of the ravings and threats of Marjorie Taylor Greene and ilk on one side and Ilhan Omar and friends on the other. I am confident that history will define that as statesmanship.

Agreed, there may be hope for us yet!

He did well.
But people at the fringes here or at the congress won’t like it.

He didn't have majority support in the Republican side of the house.

My wife and I have just returned from a pub lunch

Not cheap but, though the food was OK - the service was an example of an utter lack of human empathy - so common in modern life

We have lost human interaction - everyone hiding behind a screen of electronic sub sets and protocols

My wife was so upset that she didn't even finish her lunch

I- like many of us fellas - largely reluctant to make a fuss - sat there whist female belldom ensued !!

I can't help but feel that today's lunch is a reflection of modern political life

Still

A good scotch and the latest ''Fisherman's Friends'' restored order

He did well.

About 20 or so of the GOP House members voted NO on every bill. That’s why Johnson or whoever is the speaker has to compromise with the Democrats to get anything done with such a thin majority.
Then, they complain that he works with the “enemy”.

Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way. Johnson, now with only a 1 vote majority (thanks to MTG, Et al,), just did a solid job in the leadership category,

The only way to stop Biden's open border policy is to win elections!!! Leadership matters!

MTG and the other Putin supporters need to get the hell out of the way before
the house is completely lost. Hopefully it's not already too late, but I'm not optimistic.

Your obsession (Trump) met with Johnson and gave him the green light. Then Trump told MTG to stand down. What don’t you get? Are you now opposed to what Trump did?!?

This is digging waaaaay back, and deep... The old original Star Trek in the 60s? There was an episode where Kirk gets a renegade computer system (M-5) to basically implode by presenting it with two conflicting facts that it can't reconcile.

Trump supporters/Johnson detractors have got to be feeling like that M-5 computer Scott, when asked to process what you just said. :ROFLMAO:

Trump is good.
Johnson is bad.
Trump enthusiastically supports Johnson. :unsure::Bored:

What has just happened in the House with this bill brings hope, not because Ukraine or Israel got help, but because Americans are at last working together. The ridiculous endless log jam had to break. Now let's see action on other areas.

You must have added a extra big heaping spoonful of optimism to your coffee Kevin. :coffee:

I hope you are correct sir, even as skepticism reigns within me.

Contrary to your ridiculous accusation, I am not obsessed with Trump. I don't always agree with his actions, or support his decisions, or policies.
Many times on this thread I have seen people rant and rave about how the Republicans need to be the party of decorum, civility, and rule of law.
Johnson broke a house rule to advance tbe Ukrainian funding bill, because he didn't have a republican majority behind it

Hypocrisy much?

I had high hopes for Johnson, but what I've seen so far is disappointing. He has a John Boehner-esque vibe to him, without being a booze hound.

A majority of 112 house Republican's voted against the bill. Those 112 Republicans, myself, and million's of fellow Americans simply do not want to keep feeding billion's into the Ukrainian war machine in this time of economic struggle and uncertainty

What part of that don't you get, Scott?

Another member posted a comment to the effect about those in the Republican party that vote against the bill are Putin supporters. A ludicrous line of gaslighting bullshit if I ever heard one.

But you can be happy. The establishment war monger club got its funding bill passed.
Another few months from now, im sure another funding bill will be brought forth.
Again.....and again. .....and again

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college.
‍

Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs
In other words...redistribution of wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative
‍♂️

a feeling she openly expressed.
Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor
‍
she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.
1f914.png

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs.
. . .The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father.
He responded by asking how she was doing in school.
Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew.
She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.
Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?"
She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never even studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over."
Her father asked his daughter,
"Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend Audrey, who only has a 2.0 ?

That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back,
"That's a crazy idea!!!
1f92f.png

How would that be fair!
❓️
❓️
❓️

I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to NOTHING toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"
The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently,
"Welcome to the conservative side of the fence."
1f609.png

If you ever wondered what side of the fence YOU sit on, this is a great test!
If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants ALL guns outlawed.
................
1f914.png

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
.................
1f914.png

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
...................
1f914.png

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.
....................
1f914.png

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and Jesus silenced.
......................
1f914.png

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it. . .or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
1f631.png
1f631.png
1f631.png

If a conservative reads this, he'll post it.
A liberal will delete it because he's "offended."

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
