For those who have hunted Namibia I have a few questions?
1) what outfitter did you use?
2) what area did you hunt?
3) what did you like most about their operation?
4) what did you like least?
5) would you use them again?
6) what was the area hunted like?
7) would you change the way you did anything in your planning?
8)would you go back, or have you gone back?

I have all the same questions and more.
I have Zero answers...
I just made the comment so I can fallow it...thank you for those questions

Nick Nolte and Jamy Traut. Two of the finest operations anywhere in Africa. Hunted my largest buffalo with Jamy in the Caprivi, and my leopard with Nick in central Namibia. I would change nothing and highly recommend both.

@Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris

I hunted with Phil Hennings, Khomas Highland twice. His were some of the best hunts I ever had and very reasonably priced for the quality of the hunt. All low fenced wild animals in vast country. Lots of leopards in that country and roughly $8K-$10K less than others. Philips a good friend and very fair operator and I would go back in heartbeat. All aspects of his hunts are excellent IMO. Hutch

I’ve hunted Namibia 4 times, twice more recently with Jamy Traut Safaris. I’ve hunted Caprivi, Kaokoland, waterberg park, and farms near otavi and mt Etjo. What I liked best about Jamy Traut Safaris was that they own hunting rights in multiple areas of the country and I had the flexibility to change camps during my hunts. They are also a very professional organization. What I like best about Namibia is the space, trophy quality, hunting ethics of hunting industry there. There are a lot of good operations in Namibia. I think it’s difficult to go wrong.

I hunted with Phillip @ Khomas Highlands. Great food, lodging, huge property. He is very respectful of his clients and staff. He and his staff work together. He and his brother own and operate the farm. Great operation. I will go back. Often I hope. I took my rifle, but it does complicate the flight over if you go through Ethiopia you have to open your gun case for inspection.

I hunted PG with Jamy Traut in 2018 at his Panorama camp. This is actually Jamy’s home. We stayed in permanent tents with flush toilets, polished concrete floors, tiled shower area. Electric blankets. The area adjacent to his home was built like a thatched hut. Excellent food although my brother kidded about every meal was meat with a side of meat and meat on the salad.
This was desert country and we’d go out in the dunes to hunt. Jamy and his associate, Lowe, have adjacent properties, so even after ten days, I didn’t feel like I was always seeing the same places over and over.
The staff was great. Clean camp. Jamy was my PH for the first seven days and then he had to go to another camp and turned me over to Emile as my PH. Great guy. Jamy’s wife Rentia was a delight.
The only down side was that they said they had WiFi. It was sketchy and only available in one little area. Normally, I’d love to get away from WiFi but I needed to stay in contact with home due to wife’s health. I should have taken a SAT phone.
I’d definitely hunt with him again, next time for buffalo in the Caprivi.

I hunted with Hunters Namibia Safaris and the late Joof Lamprecht. They were DSC Outfitter of the Year a couple years before I hunted with them, so that got me interested. Also, I read Dianna Rupp's "Ask the Namibian Guides" (https://www.safaripress.com/books/book-excerpts/ask-the-namibian-guides-signed-by-author.html) and Joof sounded like a guy I would enjoy hunting with.

The lodge and ranch are northeast of Windhoek. The lodge and dining was 5 stars. Joof's wife, Marina, is a pleasure to be around. Joof passed away a few months after I hunted with them and Marina, along with her son, Joofie, have continued and grown the business. The PG hunting on the 50,000 acres was outstanding. Pretty flat terrain with some koppies.

There was one issue I didn't like and that was getting billed for a hunting day on the day of arrival. We arrived around noon and after lunch we sighted in the guns and drove back to the lodge in the dark. We didn't really hunt. I think they have changed this. If they did, I would go back. My wife and daughter and another couple went on this hunt and they loved it. This is a place to go to get your wife hooked on Africa.

I hunted with Jamy Traut safari’s, PH Louw Lotter in 2018 for an 18 day trip and in 2021 for a 24 day trip. We hunted Kaokoland, waterburg, panorama and caprivi. Really amazing experiences on both trips, I plan to go back this summer. They do an excellent job with family safaris and were great with my son (age 12) and then my son and daughter (15, 17). It is really special to bring a kid and see hunting and nature through their eyes, but not have to be the guide/ph/coach/parent.

it is tough to really fit all the things you want to do in a single trip. I’ve been back and am going back because there are more adventures that I need to experience.

PM me and I’d be happy to add more.

I hunted 20 days with an outfit whose owner is now no longer with us, so cannot use again.
Did not like the fact the PH's had to drink 26 oz of an alcoholic beverage daily, or dogs barked nightly until I went to shoot.
Hunted all wild areas in Kaokoland, no fences, even camped out and slept a few nights in a cave.
Shot a lifetime leopard, a dik dik, mnt zebra and 40 PG animals, trophy, cull, meat and rabies kudus.
Was an amazing hunt, animals every where, very reasonably priced, people were great, camp awesome, PH's were great even when drunk and wild areas are now after SA very high on my want list.
I would recommend Namibia with my highest recommendation, and I will hunt again.

I hunted a family run farm called Tandala Ridge. They're still around, but only book a small amount of hunts each year.

Their place is outside Outjo near Etosha National Park.

Great comfortable accomodations, home cooked meals serving meat from the animals you kill a couple days after you drop them. Only one hunting party on the place at a time. A big farm, several thousand acres along with access to other farms in the area if need be. Lots of kudu with no size prices. Maybe you get a 50 incher, but if that 55 or even 60 happens, all the same.

For a first and second time trip I didn't dislike anything.

Since I went twice, yes.

Mopane woodland with some rocky hills and flats.

I wouldn't change a thing on planning. Looked over seceral outfitters and found them at the local sportssmans show. They fit perfectly what I was after. Seven animals my first trip and a trip into Etosha NP. Amazing.

1) Jaco vander Merwe of Namibia Safari Corporation
2) Khomas Highlands and northern Namibia east of Grootfontein.
3) I loved the wide-open free range feel of Jaco's farm. Also, I stayed in what I think was the nicest client room in six safaris. I loved seeing large herds of Gemsbok and Wildebeest.
4) SAA not transferring my luggage or guns for my morning flight. It worked out. We went shopping, had lunch and picked my gear from the afternoon flight.
5) Absolutely!
6) Khomas was rolling hills and shrubs. Northern Namibia was the thickest brush I've ever tried to hunt anything in. Thorns everywhere. I've never bled so much for an Eland.
7) I would have added a day or two.
8) I would absolutely go back and hope to in a couple years.

Hunted with Pieter Delport, Eintracht Jag 2018 and posted hunting report. Pieter has a good mix of free range and high fenced properties owned by himself, relatives and close friends so never any mixups. I hunted a few different properties near lodge and somedays we just left lodge and started hunting for miles- free range. We also hunted in the Khomas Highlands west of Windhoek at a close friends place-Frikie.Closes town to lodge Witvlei about hour east. Flat country with typical bush that most people say looks like Texas. You can’t go wrong hunting with Pieter- consummate professional hunter. Will be hunting with him again bringing friends who want the real deal. No negatives with this outfitter.

4. Nothing to note on downside, All went well
5. Yes, (and I did)
6. Bush
7. Changes are planned to my next safari with them, "costumized", but nothing really to change in the way how they operate.
9. Yes, I did, yes, I will

1) Philip Hennings khomas highland hunting
2) Khomas region and Kalahari and Erongo area
3) Great team friendly and respectful and the hunting areas full of animals
4) can't really think of anything
5) yes
6)Erongo rocky mountains sandy valley floors and scrub. Kalahari flat sandy and lots of scrub. Khomas region hills to mountains grassy scrub rocky to sandy river valleys and fantastic views.
7) No
8) been back 4 times planning 5th now

For those who have hunted Namibia I have a few questions?
1) what outfitter did you use?
Eitaalo Hunting Safaris
2) what area did you hunt?
60 mi/90km SE of Windhoek
3) what did you like most about their operation?
Andre is an excellent easy to get along with guide who will consider any request. He works very hard to make sure you're on the game and sticks with you until you get it. It's a family operation with a great lodge and great food.
4) what did you like least?
Getting there and back is a grind. Plus you can't bring back your meat. But that's not the guide's fault!
5) would you use them again?
Yes!
6) what was the area hunted like?
Dry - but not a desert. Very nice weather when we went in August.
7) would you change the way you did anything in your planning?
8)would you go back, or have you gone back?
We would go back.

My two cents on Namibia.

There are a lot of different types of operators, and for the most part they fit into one of these 4 categories.

1. Ranch with the primary emphisis on cattle. It seems that more Europeans go to these than Americans.
2. Resort type place with swimming pools and more luxury (tennis courts, safari drive vehicles, petting zoos, wildlife experiences, spa treatments) amenities for the family. This seems more like the place Americans go.
3. Wilderness safari camp on lands leased from a bushman or tribal conservancy.
4. A combination of the first two, that isn't grandiose like a resort and isn't totally just cattle. This is probably a biltong ranch where most Namibians hunt their game meat on the weekends.

I have been to the first type and the 4th type. The 4th type was in Khomas Highlands, they rented horses and had biltong hunts for folks that lived in Windhoek. The 1st type was a group of big cattle and sheep ranches in the Kalahari.

I haven't been going since 2005. Covid travel fears squashed my travel plans for the past few years. Before that we were busy having kids.

I travelled quite a bit in 2010 to southern Africa for military work, but not on safaris. We stayed in one of the tourist type places outside of Windhoek.

In the end what do you want your experience to be like.

The first option will be like a ranch antelope and deer hunt in Wyoming or somewhere else in the west.

The 2nd and 4th options will be similar to the YO Ranch, 777 Ranch, Ox Ranch or many of the mid-high end ranches in Texas.

I have only personally met Jofie Lamprecht but can vouch that he runs a good operation. He has good buff in the Bwabwatwa area in Caprivi. He is also sponsored by Heym. I think he shot his first buff at age 12(?) and has lots of big game hours on the log books. I would recommend him for big game. Jamy also has a good name .

I hunted with Immenhof Safaris in the Omaruru area. In addition to their well managed hunting ranch (high fenced) they also have access to a large amount of conservancy land with no high fences. That’s where I hunted. Lots of game. Had a wonderful time. It’s a family run operation. The land, game and personalized service brought me back for a second time.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
