The schedule

Another nail in Delta's Joberg route.

Positive news!

Elapsed travel time is a lot less for Delta though.

Well sort of. If the old Delta schedule of arriving in JNB in the evening is still the case, there’s a good possibility of having to overnight there. That means in my mind I’m still traveling even if I’m relatively close to where I’m going.

Couldn't find a Delta flight to Lusaka but did to Harare, lowest fare $6004. Is there still a stop in Joberg with Delta? If so, add the overnight to total travel time.

Edit: best Delta time is 37 hours with two stops, CDG and Nairobi.

Well, I was talking about just for the flight to J'Burg. To be honest I would not take any flight that has a stop at J'Burg if my final destination is somewhere else at this time or near future unless I have no other choice.

For my flight to Harare I am taking Emirates even though I have credit for a round trip business class ticket to J'Burg on Turkish airlines. I will use that credit for another flight to elsewhere in October.

Agree Delta and United are the quickest way to Joberg. Add in other destinations and that edge is lost.

So am I the only one with a cancelled flight on Qatar?!

I booked flights in January for October (SEA-JNB). A month ago the flight status went from confirmed to not confirmed. When I called them they stated my flight had been cancelled. My interpretation was that I would need to move my arrival and departure a day or so to accommodate; however, the representative stated there were no flights available for October and I could request a refund.

Perhaps they've discontinued the Seattle flights? I did request a refund, but that has yet to be posted despite all evidence of my prior reservation disappearing from my online account.

6K?! First class I hope!

Not sure if QA cancelled from Seattle to Doha but definitely still flying from Houston and Dallas to Doha.

That makes for a doable flight at 2 days each way. Now, I just need the price to come down a lot from $7154.

I am curious what ever happened with your flight? Qatar does service SEA.

Qatar cancelled. We were booked from Great Falls to OR Tambo with Alaska Airlines servicing the GF-SEA leg.

While they now appear to be working with Qatar again, at that time a contract must have lapsed and they weren’t a partner airline.

When I discussed with customer service at the time, they didn’t provide any alternatives. They refunded the fares and we booked with United Great Falls to Pemba, Mozambique for $1800.

you got a great price there!
Yea it’s a moving target these days with air travel. This is why each year or each safari I get with Patrick at TWG.travel and ask about all gun friendly routes. Qatar has been the most reliable worldwide the last few years so this is why I have used them.

We don’t have anything planned for 2022, but I’m really excited to see Qatar servicing Windhoek direct now.

I have a leopard hunt booked for August 2023 and Qatar is my airline of choice.

Also, $1800 Great Falls to Pemba was insane. Desperation to fill seats and fill quota led to some great opportunity during the COVID years. Our buffalo hunt went from one to three in the skinning shed very quick!

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
