New guy here, I’ve used the site for reference many times. Hope to be able to participate and occasionally add something meaningful along with a good dose of BS. I live in very rural SE AK and enjoy shooting, boating, flying, fishing, and hunting our various critters. Friend of mine had a concession in Mozambique years ago, ended up with some health problems and had to move back home to AK. I enjoy the stories, one day hope to visit that far place, maybe even with a rifle in hand.

Welcome to AH gbflyer! Glad you decided to join us on the posting side.

gbflyer.

Welcome to AH from Eagle River, AK. Have a blessed Christmas.

Regards,

Welcome aboard gbflyer. Sounds like you have the best of all worlds going for you. What animals have you hunted in the past, what kind and caliber rifles do you own? Out of curiosity, are you a "Bush Pilot" or do you just fly for fun?

Thank you sir. In our home area the ungulate is moose. We have primarily black bear, but we are starting to see more brown bear every year. We have a very healthy wolf population and coyotes sprinkled about as well. I’m a short boat or plane ride away from Chichagof Island where we hunt Sitka blacktail deer. It is also populated with a good stock of brown bear. As a former fishing guide it’s been my policy to exercise professional courtesy with those, that is to say if you leave me alone I will leave you alone. [emoji1]

I am not a professional pilot although the Federal Government says I could be, haha. I did fly lodge support for several years and operated off airport guiding fishermen some. Airplanes have been our “grocery getter” if you will, however we now get the Alaska State Ferry so our flying has been scaled back to strictly recreational and we have gone to experimental. Plus I think I have used up my quota of good fortune.

Giday gbflyer and welcome tio the A H forums

Welcome to AH!

Hello gbflyer,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Although I advertise for the above named safari outfit, I’m a city slicker, living in Anchorage.

So, one Alaskan to another; I’m glad that you’ve joined up.
If you ever find yourself in the big town here and have some spare time to waste, give me a call.
I’m otherwise retired and only live a few minutes from the airport.

Best Regards,
Paul

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
