What Species and how many? What grain bullet? What make of bullet? What rifle do you have in this caliber?

Hi Bartfrncs

I use a 7x57 and love the caliber!

Dropped this eland bull with a standard PMP 170gr soft.

My first Whitetail, believe 140gr SP of some sort (maybe Federal), the gun was an old converted Mauser my grandfather had. One shot through the heart. Year later shot a Coyote and lost it, have no idea where the bullet hit or how it preformed.

That was my first hunting rifle, a converted military Mauser. Took a few wild boars with it.

I can t remember the ammunition used, that was too long ago !

I have shota couple of white tail deer and one nice pronghorn antelope with amodel 70 featherwieght. With good handloads it is about the same as a 270 or 280.

In my opinion, the 7x57 is the nicest rifle for plains game (as long as you put in the extra yards on your stalk). I have dropped, blues, hartebeest, kudu, zebra, impala, blesbok, mtn reedbuck, duiker and feral dogs with my trusty old musgrave built 7x57. Never experienced any sort of bullet failiure from factory ammo or reloads. Let us not forget Mr Bell and his 7x57...
In reading a couple of other threads about "what to get my kids for their first rifle" I rate the 7x57 as the choice.

Hi, I'm 13, and my 7x57 is my first choice.

*Blesbok-1 of 4 shot with 7x57 (170m, Heart)
*Impala-1 of 1 shot with 7x57 (220m, Head)
*Blackwildebeest-1 of 1 shot with 7x57 (160m, Neck)
*Ostrich-1 of 1 shot with 7x57 (180m, Head)
------------
7x57 Ruger MK II
175g Norma Magnum

I may not have shot the exotics but my 7x57('s) have taken many goats, deer and a pig along with a few hare and rabbits.
Loads have been from the 120gn GS Custom at 3235fps through to the 160gn Woodleigh at 2700fps in jacketed bullets and a 160gn soft nosed cast bullet at 2400fps. They have all performed so well that I have very high confidence in this cartridge in my current 7x57.

Hey there.

I use my dad's/my Ruger 7x57 MKII, I always used 175gr. But now, we discovered Hornady Superformance 139gr.

With 175gr:

1 blesbok
1 impala
1 ostrich
1 black wildebeest
1 zebra

With 139gr:

1 blue wildebeest
1 red hartebeest
1 gemsbok

I used a Winchester M70 in 7x57 to take a white tail last year with a 160gr speer SP bullet.

I use my Rigby 275 (7x57) on everything from wild dogs to buffalo and it is an absolute pleasure to shoot. Pictured here with a scrub bull. Other rifle is my Jeffery 404

Wow, that's a big critter for the little 7. I guess I won't hesistate to let my son shoot a Kudu with his next year!

I have shot an Impala and Ostrich between 180 (Ostrich) and 220metres (impala). Very accurate and awesome gun!

I built one for my wife and she shoots all kind of stuff with it. Hers shoots a 160 Accubond at almost 2650FPS and is a pretty good hammer!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
