My youngest and a hunter in the making with his new Marlin .22 lever action. The rifle is actually quite accurate. I put a few shots through to get the scope sighted in. He's been shooting a bb gun for a year now with iron sights so thought I'd move him up to a scope.

First lessons in loading a clip and the pinched fingers that comes with it.

That a bolt action

i did have 2 39A and gave them to a niece and nephew. One was used the other new in the box. Very accurate rifle...

Uncle James.... I like guns too! :tired:

Big5er

I must have given away 10 or more rifles to the nieces and nephews. all top of the line Winchester, ruger, marlin and Remington some with scopes and some with out.

Plus i did sell some of my center fire rifles for less than 100 dollars.

To top that off a new browning 270 in the box to one for Christmas.

A Sako 243 new in the box that was later traded for a used Remington auto in 30-06. (i was sick)

Plus my grand son 3 years ago was given a Browning OU trap special tricked out by Daro Handy plus 8 flats of shells and all the trimmings at Christmas. included a 2 hard cases for airline and vehicle travel. Trying to get them in to the game.

If we as responsible individuals do not start our younger relatives in the shooting and hunting sports then where will we be.

I have found that giving guns to relatives retains about 40 % down the line in the hunting shooting sports. Where family's that do not do this it is under 5%.

Start them early.

James, Are you bragging or complaining? LOL!

It like this my mother taught me to share.

When you have excess you spread it around.

Most of the rifles were won while trapshooting...

James, Are you bragging or complaining? LOL!

Start a kid young, teach them the right firearms etiquette, and take them out hunting! It would be funny if it wasn't so sad that most gun control jerks do not realize that accidents with firearms almost never happen to children who have been taught properly, but to those who think guns are "toys". So, I appreciate what Phil and James (and all the other unsung heroes of our sport) are doing. Keep up the good work, and a happy, safe, healthy and successful new hunting year to all!

Man I wish I could change the title of this thread. Why I had lever action in my head I don't know, but yes James it is a bolt action.

Don't worry. It's known as "Christmas Confusion", and comes with the time of year.
