Making My Way To BARNES

Good luck. Hope it works out. I understand the international bit can be a bit daunting.

Man I thought we had some tough things to go through here in the US! I never even thought there would be an issue getting ammo/components in Canada.

For us it is purely economic. It just costs a lot when volume and our dollar are low

Orders are always delayed because businesses here have to pay the FFL /export fees too. So, they wait until there is a large enough order to make it commercially viable to bring up.
Delays, delays.....

Also, the less common the caliber the less likely anyone will stock it.

Question: What happens if you go person to person privately?

Canadians can import 5000 rounds no issues just pay the tax. The problem is the US requires FFL to export. If a Canadian gets caught exporting you are in a world of shit. Our guys just want the taxes

Have you tried getting them from somewhere other than the states. Pretty sure you can send projectiles (but not live ammo) from NZ. Might not be that cheap with freight etc.
Try workshopinnovations (NZ$139 for 50 Barnes 350gr TTSX) or gunworks in NZ.

Damned bureaucracies. How about getting just projectiles from the US?

Since I have a valid 6NIA from the ATF, I can legally acquire ammunition and projectiles and no one has ever cared that I brought them back (US or Canadian Customs.) As long as I am personally packing them back.

The unaccompanied shipping is where the issues ensue. No US retailer wants the hassle or cost.

Same question as @Newboomer . Could an individual ship bullet heads only?

@lcq seems to believe that requires FFL on this end, but I've never heard of that? Of course I've never tried to ship bullet heads to Canada either. I can ship live ammo person to person in the States, that I do know. Just have to use FedEx or UPS and mark the package as Ordinance, no USPS.

Internally you won't have issues, it's that border thing that sets the retailers off.
Export Controls.

If you really want to know.

It is not actually an FFL, it is a State Department license.
Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC).
If you want a headache read this:

Only US citizens can apply and hold this license. I recall it being $500 per annum.

I was curious and since @BRICKBURN is an even easier search engine to use than Google I figured why the heck not ? ;)

Have been loading barnes for a long time have 7 one shot kills on elk with a 100gr barnes in 25=06 just stated loading for my 300 mag with barnes have never had a failer and have collected a couple perfect mushrooms under skin on off side that weighed 100 grains, most exit and arnt recovered they are a little pricey and one wonders how they will be now that they have new owners time will tell

The only change that has happened with new ownership is the ability to make Ammunition and not just the bullets.
I have not seen any jumps in prices

Wow!! What a rigamarole. Might be worth the trip to the US and stock up. DSC and SCI should be good sources. From my experience, Barnes is the only way to go. One shot kills and 100% weight retention with beautiful mushroom.

If it comes down to it I will be acquiring said projectiles at one of the shows.

I'm not concerned much with price jumps as I am with quality of product so many big outfits with bean counters have a tendency to slack on quality to make profits higher ,as long as they maintain the standards that Mark and Connie have carried forth from Fred Barnes I will keep buying and enjoying their products,PS I bought up quite a supply just in case.lol

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
