TIME TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST ANTIS & SHOW CANCELLATIONS

...............
Birgit posted on Facebook today that she heard that Lana Stark has gone into hiding.
.................

Ms. Stark did not go into hiding.
Her company removed her email and details from the corporate website in an attempt to digitally distance themselves from her actions.

................ I certainly hope everyone who Emailed her was respectful and non-threatening. While we can be proactive and reactive, we shouldn't stupe to the antis level. Eva Shocky posted on Facebook yesterday that she gets about 5000 hate/death threats a day from animal rightists...................

I have never seen a post by a hunter that ever threatened anyones life.
Nor would it be tolerated here on AH.

Back on the message instead of leaping to erroneous conclusions.

Perhaps, on the letter writing, but Jason St. Michael of SCI Canada was working on this with the organizer, Birgit, since day 1 or 2.
.

My comments regarding SCI making it to the dance late is not directed at local chapters, SCI Canada, or SCI members who are working hard on this. They are directed at the bureaucratic institution in Tucson whose first public response to this issues (from my understanding) was yesterday. A full week after you first posted the information related to the Toronto show here on AH.

You, Brickburn and many others (including SCI members) have been responsible for creating a response from hunters. Not the organization that is "first for hunters", who wade into the fray a week late. Am I glad SCI (headquarters is involved). You bet. Would they have even made a press release without members bringing a cattle prod out? Will Tucson do anything other than the press release they issued yesterday? We patiently wait for leadership from on high. In the meantime, kudos to all involved in the groundswell who are really doing the work.

The NRA's new focus on hunting can't get here soon enough.

Hey @BRICKBURN ,

What about starting a sticky thread that lists any companies who are anti hunting supportive ?
  • Delta
  • Saskatoon Inn
  • Etc....
There is a lot of traffic here and a reminder might help?

Interesting idea. Start writing the thread Royal.
Members can add companies as they run into them.
We can make the request of the boss about the sticky factor.

Not sure if has ever been done and I am asking because I would have no way of being able to start such a thing. But how about beating the anti's at there own game and doing petitions or mass emails thanking some of the place that we know support hunting rights or change there mind and come back to our side.

I can think of one like south african airways that came back around after banning lions being shipped. I am sure they have no idea how much we as a group are glad they changed there mind. How much extra money they will make by the choice to be on the right side.I bet they got thousand of emails telling them how bad it was but very few praising them for the choice.

Instead of waiting for the anti's to always hit us first how about sci or dsc or any other group starting a thank you to companies us hunters could sign on to and then send out. Let them know are numbers are not as small as they think.

Could be a thank you with some info that supports are ideas on why we think we are right in fighting for the right to hunt and how it helps the animals in the end.It can be just a letter thanking them for not taking sides even with all the bs that has been going on.

Again way out of my league how to do such stuff but sure would back it if someone does it. Would help in any way i could to.

The sentiment is right onside Bill.

An email link set up like SCI just did for this is the easiest way to get messages sent to businesses from a large group.

An adjunct to Royals idea would be that list of "Conservation friendly companies" is created and maintained.

I asked all the Outfitters involved to send me the "Good news" stories so they can be shared and educate the general population.

Billc, there's one more thing that should be done.

Groups like SCI and African Sporting Events, in fact each and every hunting group who chooses to book hotels or bands or whatever service, needs to ensure a lawyer has a look at the contract they sign, and make sure it can't be cancelled for reasons such as these. If lawsuits can be brought against outfits that "think twice" after coming under pressure, then we can hit them where they think - their wallets.

It's time for us to stop thinking that world is a fair place, or that facts will triumph over emotion.

Time to grow up. We aren't in Kansas anymore.

Excellent idea Royal, please start the thread in this section and I will stick that thread… As BRICKBURN said members will be able to add companies as they run into them.

I would just like it to be to businesses that have not taken sides yet so we are not always fighting from behind.

If we could just get out in front once to show we are as smart as the anti's getting our word out. Instead of lawyers to fight just some good PR to companies to have are side in front of them before they get the anti's bs.

just emailed all the executives at Soasher, quoting their employees false information on her petition, waiting for any responses.

Done!!!!

So very true. And how ironic that it was one of the greatest conservationists of all time who said it.

Wildlife federations supports hunting expo that was pulled from hotel

by THE CANADIAN PRESS

SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation has waded into a debate over an African Hunting Expo that has been pulled from the calendar of a Saskatoon hotel.

The expo by African Events Canada and African Hunting Gazette was to be held next month at the Saskatoon Inn and Conference Centre but the hotel has confirmed the event has been cancelled, though it has not said why.

Lana Stark, who started an online petition against the event, says it is unethical for hunters to target animals such as rhinos, lions, elephants, giraffes and hippos.

On Wednesday, the SWF said it would had planned to hold a national conference at the Saskatoon Inn in a few years but will look for another venue out of support for the hunting expo.

Executive director Darrell Crabbe says the hotel is painting all hunters with the same brush.

He says not all hunting in Africa, in Canada or anywhere is bad, adding that licence fees from hunters and anglers help fund Saskatchewan animal conservation and research efforts.

A Holiday Inn in Toronto last week cancelled its participation in a similar event after an animal justice lawyer organized an online petition.

The killing of Cecil the lion by a U.S. big-game hunter in Zimbabwe last summer drew international condemnation and sparked outrage among animal conservationists and politicians.

“Trophy hunters say they are conservationists helping local communities. I don’t think you are if you pay money to shoot an animal, and there must be less destructive ways to save a species,” says Stark.

“If you’re putting a price tag on their heads, make it about eco-tourism. Have safaris, tours and photography. People want to see these majestic animals.”

Crabbe says it is sad that negative stories about trophy hunting and poachers has painted all hunting as being a bad practice.

Crabbe invites all hunters and anglers in the province to follow SWF’s lead and no longer support the Saskatoon Inn.

Such a broken record....

Ok, let's hear the idea Lana. Wait, what? You don't have one? Oh....

another organization against hunting. stopping the grizzly hunt in BC.

http://pacificwild.org/take-action/campaigns/stop-the-trophy-hunt

Alberta stopped our griz hunt in 2006, bear numbers are up and there have been increasing human - bear conflicts within 100 km of Grande Prairie that I know of and more within the province. Hopefully the hunt is reinstated, believe there were only about 13-15 tags given out annually.
