TIME TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST ANTIS & SHOW CANCELLATIONS

I heard from my local OFAH Rep that he forwarded my concerns to head office. That was on the 14Th. I have not heard from head office. I think we need to also let our hunting organizations know how concerned we are with this issue. My concern is that they perceive the African Hunting issues as separate from domestic issues? They need to be part of a strategy as has been pointed out in this and similar threads. Their membership needs to hold their feet to the fire on that.

Dear Hunters,

Its is time we as hunters where more vocal on our stance of what hunting is.

Through a petition a hotel in Saskatoon has canceled the African hunting expo in Canada.

It would be nice if more hunters sent polite letters to the hotels and news sites listed below than those numbers that signed the petition. See attached.

Please follow the links below to make your comments, if you like please feel free to copy and paste my comment, below.

To whom it may concern:

I would like to comment on the recent cancelation of the hunting show that was to be held by expo by African Events Canada and African Hunting Gazette at the Saskatoon Inn and Conference Centre next month.

What many people fail to realize is that Africa is a huge place and there are already massive tracks of land set aside as national parks, sanctuaries and conservancies where wildlife is protected, tourists can visit these places and take photos of all the they want, these areas are not at capacity, meaning there is enough space for all the tourists that want to visit Africa, hunting is NOT conducted in these areas.

With all that land set aside for wildlife there is still twice this amount of land left which is not utilized for anything, At the moment solely because legal tourist hunting is conducted in these areas, these concessions have set hunting seasons and strict quotas, these concessions enable the country to sustainably utilize their renewable natural resource, to Africa that resource is wildlife, the utilization of which brings a much needed income to the protection of the these wild areas these are same areas that wildlife needs to exist, these are areas that would and will not be visited by a non hunting tourist eco tourism or otherwise, they are simply too remote, which costs time and money to get to.

Africa is lucky to still have large unused wild areas, but people against hunting need to realize that if these wild areas do not generate an income, these areas will be lost; Land will be, and has to be utilized; either for grazing, mining, logging, farming or building the only form of consumable utilization that will and does protect wildlife and the habitat is hunting, that makes hunting conservation. For the future of African wildlife I hope more people will start thinking practically, not emotionally.

The antis are at it again and only we can stop them and make businesses accountable for caving to what amounts to a vocal minority! The entire hunting community needs to come together and show our strength, and SCI members should lead the way. This attack on hunting was led by the Animal Justice Group and they won’t stop until we band together.
This week two hotels canceled contracts with the African Sporting Events Show. These hotels did not cancel due to “security concerns” or “construction” or any other excuse they can think of. No, these hotels caved, plain and simple. They caved to a petition signed by a mere 3,000 anti-hunting extremists. These hotels did not bother to talk to us, the true conservationists. They did not bother to learn what role hunting has played and continues to play is conservation. No, they caved.
That is why we are asking you to send emails to these hotels by clicking HERE and express your disappointment and outrage at their succumbing to emotion rather than science and facts. This email explains that if they are not willing to to rescind these decisions then you will have no choice but to no longer support the hotels and their affiliates.
If we band together we can easily surpass the 3,000 signatures on the antis petition. All you have to do is send this to two hunters you know at a minimum. Animal Justice won’t stop until we stand up and say enough is enough.
The two properties that shamelessy caved into anti-hunting pressure were the Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport location and the Saskatoon Inn in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Let’s stand together and stop the insanity.

This link is to help folks from "elsewhere" understand the education provided in the city of Toronto on the subject of Biodiversity.

http://www1.toronto.ca/City Of Toronto/City Planning/Zoning & Environment/Files/pdf/B/Biodiversity_MammalsToronto_Tagged_Final.pdf

Every carnivore has been eradicated from Toronto.
Not shocking, it happens anywhere a city is created. Large carnivores are not compatible with human habitation. Ask some of the folks in the grass huts where Lions and Hyena still live.

How many of these people would like a Wolf running around there homes? (anyone that knows they are not a domestic dogs)

Can they understand what is transpiring in their own city, county, province or country?
How can they possibly relate to people in Africa.

All the Vegan's think they are not hurting animals because they don't draw blood.
HABITAT destruction, as explained in the document, is the PRIMARY cause of extirpation from their own back yard.
The relationship of their choices to the impact on wildlife is not direct enough for them to comprehend.
They are so disconnected from their food sources it is incomprehensible

So, Tofu eaters, do you see a lot of wildlife in this Soybean field???

Hotels Cave to Antis

By filling out your information below, a sperate email will be sent to the Saskatoon Inn (Atlific Hotels), Holiday Inn Gateway Centre (Easton's Group Hotels) and the Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport (Intercontinental Hotels Group)

December 18, 2015

I am writing today to express my utter disappointment with the recent decision by the Saskatoon Inn, Holiday Inn Gateway Centre and Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport to cancel the hosting of the African Hunting Exposition. This decision was not based on science and facts, but instead yielded to pressure from animal rights extremist groups, who constitute a very small, but vocal minority of citizens in Canada.

Hunting is a tradition that dates back to the very founding of our country and has been practiced by Canada's indigenous populations for centuries. Hundreds of thousands of Canadians hunt each year and pump billions of dollars into our economy. There is little doubt that your hotel has itself profited handsomely from hunters and our hunting dollars over the years.

By succumbing to the pressure of anti-hunting groups, you have chosen to ignore the vital role hunting plays in the conservation and management of species around the globe. Countless numbers of species have been brought back from the brink of extinction because of hunters. In fact, most hunters, myself included, consider ourselves to be conservationists first and hunters second.

Because of your poor decision-making, I will avoid doing business with your hotel whenever possible in the future and I will encourage all fellow hunters and anglers to take similar actions. I urge you in the strongest of terms to reconsider your position and to instead conduct your decision-making in accordance with science and facts. I strongly recommend that, instead of caving to emotional campaigns, you should take action that supports hunting and the role it plays not only in the conservation of Canadian wildlife and species worldwide, but also in supporting the Canadian economy.

Sincerely,

Hank,

Appreciate your posting this.

SCI is a week behind AH and others in getting things going. (Kind of reminds you of a wooly mammoth plodding along and look what happened to them) :(

At least SCI is doing something.:)

Done.
I also have sent them my own letter.

Hey all, also SCI has a petition going over this same thing. I just signed it but if you haven't already please do. I hope the idiots get slammed with a million or more letters from pissed off hunters. United we are very strong.

Thanks Erik. Hank dropped it in minute ago and I hope we keep it going.

Thanks.

Well because her email is not available, so I am going to email the president and partners of her company. They also have a list of clients and I am going to try to run down their POC as well this weekend.

Removing her name after the fact. Smart folks might have heard of a thing called "screen shots". Guess not.

@BRICKBURN as always you are the man

I still want to get some POCs for their clients as if their clients start emailing them saying "why are we getting these emails" and a cancelled contract or two and I think will definitely have a big impact.

So I went to look up Ms. Lana Stark (who started the petition) and her name has been removed from the company website.

I guess she received more then a few emails

Thanks for noticing.

Wonder if old Lana is starting to realize it is not fun when your livelihood is threatened.

It just shows that hunters have a little power as well.

Keep up the good work!

@Wheels How did you a picture of my arms??? haha

I agree!! This is the type of pressure we need to apply, if we show we are united and willing to push back I think we can stop this momentum, and make them think twice.
