The words of a Korean friend of mine to come to mind here:

Hola Chet!

considering hes asking $77,500.00 for the rifle you would think he would include more pictures of the rifle.

I came across this on gunbroker. Wish I could afford it, but no such luck.

That's awesome but I'd be hesitant to buy even if I had $$$$ like that. Wally Johnson falls into my top 10 all time Herod but let's not forget during the troubles he lost everything but the cloths on his back, a car, and what he could fit in it. Now could it be that this rifle was saved or one he later bought. IDK but I'd damn sure want to know its real before dropping that kinda cash on it.

Ah disregard my earlier post, I just saw where it's being offered up by the family. "Historic" stuff always makes me nervous as result of the number of fakes and frauds out there.

Thank you for that, I was in need of a good laugh today. :E Lol:

Ya I'm the champion of opening my mouth and inserting my foot!

That was supposed to say Heros not Herod. My iPhone hates me

Neat post. Thanks.

That's a couple of elephant, with some buff thrown in!!!

interesting , i shall watch with interest.

Am a little surprised they didn't offer this through one of the major auction houses. Potential buyers form a pretty select and very small shot group, and I doubt if must hang around Gunbroker on a regular basis.

I would rather use the money for hunting.

You and I would agree. Though the folks interested in a 75k rifle probably aren't making a choice between the two.

@Red Leg , I agree on both counts...why not one of the major auction houses and, if you can afford $75,000 for an old, beat up M70 with some history, then you can afford the hunts as well (it would be nice to bring Wally's old rifle to the Dark Continent one more time and slay a nice bull).

Personally, I think it's a pipe dream, asking $75,000 for the rifle.

As I recall, Johnson was in a canoe that flipped and he lost his rifle in a river. He left a big magnet with a local and a few months later the local walked a hundred+ miles with the rifle to return it to Johnson for a reward.

Does anyone remember if that rifle was a M70 in 375?

I'm to lazy to look it up.

Agree completely.

I doubt the major provenance buyers hang around Gunbroker regularly.

According to the article I read, it was a M70 in 375 (presumably the one for sale).

Thanks Dolan. (y) I figured with a group as knowledgeable as this, somebody would know this bit of trivia off the top of their head.

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
