about 6 months ago i started receiving emails from collets taxidermy in bulawayo. they had a sable that was shot in tanzania. it was under the name andreas suzzane pennington. well the only pennington collets and the importer had on file was mine. they kept asking if it was mine and i kept saying no. well i finally got an email saying shipping and all fees were paid for and if i wanted the package shipped. it sounded like they were on the verge of destroying the sable. so i told them to ship it. well the trophy is at my taxidermist but im not about to pick up a shipment like this. im going to try and locate this lady and get her the sable she shot. the shipper was tanzania wildlife company in arusha tanzania. i have the shipping detail and receipts. if anyone can ask around i can connect this person with their sable.

Good luck, very noble of you to try. Let us know what happens. Do they know if the person was a U.S. citizen? What about tracking the person down thru the hunting license?

wow talk about a screw up. I hope you find the person that sable belongs to.

I'm glad you're looking for the owner. What a mess and I wish you good luck.

Yep, talk about a treasure hunt. I can't believe that the taxidermist didn't get all of their info when it was dropped off.

Kudo's to you for doing the right thing.

TAP,

Don't know of a Tanzania Wildlife Company. There is a Tanzania Wildlife Corporation, (TAWICO) that has gone through a lot in the last 15 years. It was a government parastatal that was bought by Usangu Safaris then sold to Jack Brittingham Safaris. Not sure if he still owns it or not.

Arusha address of TAWICO I just looked up:

Tanzania Wildlife Corporation (tawico)
Address: Arusha, Tanzania
City of Tanzania
,Post Office box: 1144, Arusha, Tanzania
Phone: 027 250 8830, 027 250 8239

Jack Brittingham's website:

http://www.tanzaniaquest.com/

Not sure if this will help but it is where I would start.

TAWICO to Collets to USA seems weird. Be careful about taking possession. Not saying something is wrong with this, just in this day and age it seems strange.

All the best.

Mike,

Your quicker on the draw than me.:)

good luck on your hunt for owner.

Dude, how does this sh*t happen to you? o_O

Tell your damned distant relatives to pay their own damn bills and provide a proper dress instead of hiding in the dark and leave you alone.

Thanks for helping a fellow hunter out by talking the shipment.

Hope the real owner gets their trophy.

Tony I have sent you three emails and I have found some possible places to start searching.

i tracked her down but cannot find her cell number. she does in fact live in reno nevada and jack brittingham was the company that hunted her but i cannot get in contact with either. im going to give it 6 weeks and then have my taxidermist destroy the shipment if we cant find the owner. im just too worried that it could contain some sort of contra band or i would get it and hold it myself.

Do you have a business address? Could try an old fashioned letter.
