Decent middle of the road optics for my .375?

I have Leupold 2-7x33 Rifleman I have on my .375 H&H been on 2 safaris and was under $300 great optic for price.

My vote is for Leupold VX-3 1.5-5 also. I mounted and sighted one in on my buddies 416 Rigby for a buff hunt last year. It was perfect! May I suggest Leupold Quick Release rings with levers, like we used. They work perfect for going after wounded buff in the thick stuff. Just quickly release the scope, and now you have open sights for the "up close and personal" stuff!! Enjoy your upcoming hunt. Kevin

For over 30 years I owned nothing but Leupolds. Then I decided to look around. Surprise!!! There are other scopes out there that offer tremendous value and equally good optics. I'm not dissing Leupold-I still have six of them. What I'm saying is it really pays to look around.
Burris Fullfield II's are great scopes and offer great value. CameralandNY has great buys on Minox scopes. I believe they still have 3-9x40's for about $160 delivered. Minox's have been well reviewed and have served me very well. Both Burris and Minox offer a no questions asked full lifetime guarantee.
There are some great optics out there at very reasonable price points.

Kudukiller, you have been given good advice on the optics, but if you going to take a 200 yard shot on a buffalo, your PH has lost the plot. But I gather you looking for all rounder scope for other animals, 4x32 is a good fixed scope size.

I used a Leupold vx2 4x33 on my 375 and while it worked for the zebra and wildebeest I took at 150 yards I would have liked a little more magnification. 100 yards and under it was great.

I'm awaiting the release of the Leica ER 5 scopes.

There is a 1-5x24 straight tube and a 1-8x33 belled scope coming by mid summer. Both perfect for a .375 in Africa and both under $800!

I use this optic on my crossbow. It is 1" tube if not illuminated, 30mm if illuminated (to make room for electronics). Same glass, no optical benefit from the bigger tube. Quite functional for daylight shooting and okay for a crossbow in lower light at say 2x magnification.

I would not recommend this scope for low light rifle work. Things I wouldn't do: duiker, bushbuck and waterbuck in the swampy river edges. It would be horrible for leopard.

It also has a very slow acquisition speed and a fussy level of precision required to get your eye relief correct.

Good value for $300, good value in IR model for $480, but compared to a $700 Leica or a used swaro or used zeiss, it's really poor.

I don't buy much frugal glass anymore but I wonder if a 4x weaver is a better scope for less? After owning and using the leupold 1-5x I would never buy one for use on a rifle personally. There has to be something better out there? Maybe their 2-7x33 model?

Just thought of a great frugal scope for the author!

Zeiss conquest 3-9x40

American made zeiss and a great value for Nikon/bushnell money. Not heavy either which should help with durability under magnum recoil.

Just mounted a new Leupold VXR 4x12x40 on my 300 win mag Ruger Model 1
I've always had a Bushnell 3x9x40 on the rifle since getting it in 2000. No problems with the Bushnell but the new scope has the illuminated fire dot reticule that will assist me in low light situations. I will say that the Luepold glass seems to be clearer and with the Custom Dial being made should be all the scope I will ever need.

I'm totally pleased with my ATN day and night rifle scope. Overall, this scope is a must for every hunter. It is very suitable for a night time hunting! Btw, this scope has capability to record HD videos and take HD quality photos.
