Mama ingrained in us that "Complaining without offering a solution was just whining..." She was too strong to put up with whining, and I personally hate it. I also, am personally (sometimes) a hypocrite. I just got an email back from Gracy Travel that my round trip ticket to New Zealand is $3,300.00 USD. That is exactly $1K more than when I priced it a year ago! Many of my brothers and sisters here fly internationally way more than I do. Is everyone seeing this increase, or did I just forget my meds again?
Fraternally,
Hedge

That probably isn’t crazy. I’m looking at flights for next year now for NZ and they are steadily going up right now.

A few weeks back the same flight I was looking at last night was $700/seat different.

Also depends on the airport you are leaving from. LA seems to be the cheapest exit

Looking at:
Nashville to Houston
Houston to NZ
Return:
NZ to San Francisco (Ugh....gross)
SF to Nashville
This will be mid June.

Oil prices are elevated because of Iran conflict, and that’s probably boosting prices. I heard that you can sometimes find cheaper flights if you book them in international markets that don’t have all of the taxes levied as in USA, England. Google this and you may be able to use a VPN connection to get a deal, though I have heard airlines are getting better about closing this loophole. Good luck.

My flight to Deer Lake Newfoundland from NC this October cost $1000 more than the same flight in 24. Between fuel costs with the troubles in the strait and fewer flights due to friction with Canada, the price is 33% higher!

I do all my own booking if the company isn’t paying for my flights, I’m a boarder line peasant & only spend money on guns, ammo & hunting, which unfortunately includes travel which I see as waste.

I do spend a LOT of time on the computer checking airport locations & flight deals, maybe a year or more into the future on places I might get to.

Yes prices have gone up but deals are still around.

I’m working in the NT of Australia this season & found flights from NZ to the Australia GC for NZ $208 then a flight to Darwin for $350, now normally this is $12-1400 deal so shows what can be done, interestingly if I wanted a flight next month I could fly from Brisbane to Darwin for Aus $177 on certain days other days $1200 for same flight !

You need to be flexible on dates, go early or even stay a day or two longer to get that savings !

Hope this might help but I don’t need any Kidneys right now !

My wife's sister loves to cut the grass, but she's already taken. I'll keep my eye out.
Since we're derailing ...

Back in '65 when I was in 8th grade we were almost done building our new family home. Dad hired a janitor from the dam where he was operator to help hang sheetrock. Wilbur was a character. Raised in the same town as Lawrence Welk but not nearly as pronounced accent. He was what we would call today "high functioning autistic". But he had a clever sense of humor. Dad always made sure to pay the missus or Wilbur would draw too much off the top for beer "taxes." As a tip Dad sometimes took us uptown to Bell's Bar for a sandwich at lunchtime. We were just finishing when Dad got up.

"Where ya going, Jack?"

"To the john. Don't worry, I'll be back to pick up the bill."

"Okay. I'll keep an eye out for you." Wilbur removed his glass eye and dropped it in his beer. Dad almost barfed. Brother Mike and I laughed so hard we nearly peed our pants.

YYZ to GCM for this fall is what if paid for YYZ to JNB, in 2018.
I appreciate that Sir, but to my ignorant ears it sounds like you just called in an air strike and I'm a bit worried. I was asking about a different kind of airplane ride. Godspeed.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
