Hard to find an officer more respected than George within the Army. I have a growing sense that the National Guard Major imitating a Defense Secretary struggles with facing that whole best apolitical uniformed advice thing. It is not hard for me to imagine an Army COS describing in brutal detail to Hegseth's frustration just how little actual combat power the Army commitment to SOF represents in theater. Also, apparently Driscole, the Army Secretary, despises Hegseth. Both are appointed by the President. That puts any Army COS in an awkward, even impossible position.

Educated people pose a threat to King Trump and to his princesses...:LOL

It’s laughable how little education you display with your education comment…

Since the replacement general has equivalent levels of education to the outgoing general…

And Hegseth, like him or hate him, has higher levels of education than Trump…

While Trump is indeed any Ivy League grad… he only holds a bachelors degree… the majority of his cabinet hold Masters and JD’s… many of them from Ivy schools themselves.. most senior cabinet officials, and quite literally every flag officer in the US military has more formal education than Trump…

And since no one on the planet can be an expert at all things, outside of business and being the actual President, most all of them are substantially more informally educated as well..

Which by the way is typical for most Presidents..

Education in a formal sense is usually overrated. For the last 300 years almost all of wealthiest men of every generation in business didnt need or use a formal degree to make their way… are they stupid or inferior. Cornelius Vanderbilt quit school at age 11. John Rockefeller was a book keeper at 16 and a business man at 20 no real education. Steve Jobs and bill gates both dropped out after one semester of college.

On a military or strategist front it’s even more apparent since the greatest rulers ( or dictators if your picky) that all present military minds have built there education off of created there tactics and rules with no formal education.
genghis khan, napoleon, Stalin, zhu yuanzhang( founded the Ming dynasty, Andrew Jackson, Vo Nguyen giap( beat the French and us with guerilla tactics and patience), subutai one of the greatest strategist ever. Sun tzu and a bunch more I could name that I’ve read about had no real education at all and yet seemed to do all right. Not trying to pick a fight I just think when people use the education card it’s a bit overdone in most circumstances when we talk about exceptional people. They usually see things others don’t or are able to recognize that and surround themselves with those that are better in the areas they lack at.

Looks like the Regime in Tehran is bringing in mercenaries from all over the ME to help suppress the people of Iran.

I'd bet it wouldn't take much to get these folks to shoot foreign mercenaries, if they had something to shoot them with.

A smart leader surrounds himself with people smarter and more capable than themselves to make their life easier.

Fox is reporting the Weapons Officer that went missing after the F-15 that went down has now been rescued.

Must have been a heck of an operation. Fox and others are reporting one and perhaps two C-130’s having to be destroyed on the ground by US forces when unable to takeoff. No doubt complicated extraction enormously with a large security force on the ground that also seems to have been actively engaged in a firefight.

Hope we get to hear it.
Take my hat off to the guys and girls going in to get your pilot!
Something akin to kicking the hornets nest then sticking your hand in to get your boot out.

I posted Friday that the Weapons Officer was rescued Friday.

The report was translated incorrectly. It should have read. They were trailing him and knew were he was. But a safe LZ was the issue. Similar to the 2024 movie “Land of Bad” when two different LZs were too hot.

Apparently they have been killing his attackers that were on his heels for days. As said above there appears to have been a dust up during extraction.

This is a huge win. A POW would have given them a valuable bargaining chip.

And man the CSAR guys earned their pay. The SOF guys got in on the action also.

With two C-130’s landing, I suspect at least a company of Rangers went in to secure the extraction site. Apparently Seals went up on the mountain to actually get him. He was held up in a crevasse on a mountain while CIA was spreading a false story that he was on the run causing IRGC to send troops running all over the place away from the immediate crash site. Anyone who came close was smoked by A-10’s. Would like to meet the guy who made the call to bring in additional C-130’s after the first two had to be destroyed. Running around a dry lake bed in the dark stomping the ground, and then making call. Could have been a disaster. They kept their heads and overcame it all without losing a man.

I wondered why Team 6 would have been sent up to surround the weapons officer. It’s more of an Army “Unit” task.

Word on the street is the “Unit” guys are tied up on even higher priorities. They need to fly well under radar.

Shot down on Good Friday and rescued on Easter Sunday. Wow! Has a biblical ring to it, doesn't it.

There's probably enough to keep everyone busy for a while.

I can just hear it now -Brrrrrrrrrrrt Brrrrrrrrrrt!

Kinda reminds me of the movie "Behind enemy lines" with Gene Hackman.
Though I would imagine the terrain of Iran would be a more hostile environment compared to Bosnia.

Some years back I attended an airshow at DMAFB.
They did a reinactment of a joint mission with Army and Air Force.
Helicopters came swooping in with explosions going off, and smoke grenades, while guys repelled out of the helicopter to the LZ.
A-10's providing ground cover to the helicopters ripping by firing the nose gun.......brrrrrtttt, with Fighter jets flying high cover.
It was quite impressive, even if if was just for show.
I can only imagine what a real life scenario would be like

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?
