SPAIN: Return To Spain

Thanks for sharing your experience and a really nice roe buck. I’ve got two Spain hunts booked for 2025. Will be doing a roe buck hunt in April with Francisco Rosich and then a Pyrenean chamois hunt with Bruno Rosich in October, really excited for both hunts. My wife will be joining me for both trips and we are just starting to explore touring options for the trips.
If you have posted a hunt report of this trip, please point me in that direction. I'm also planning on a hunt, and bringing my wife. I've sent her info from @Red Leg, including photos. Bob Kern is helping with the trip, but I highly value input from the gentleman on these forums. Thank you

I have done multiple hunts with Bruno (and one of his PHs, Dani Loughlin) of Trophy Hunting Spain within the past one and a half years. I’ve hunted Pyrenees chamois, red stag, fallow deer, roebuck and mouflon as well as Gredos ibex. If you need any help or further planning, I am a very good source of information. I’m working today, but I can be in touch with you. I’ve also posted hunting reports on both here on this website in the past.

Many thanks. Will look for your hunt reports and be in touch with any questions. Much appreciate the reply.

Well, I did start this thread with the latest. :E Shrug: Attached are a couple of more. I can not recommend Ignacio de Navasqüés and Great European Hunts more highly. As you will note, these trips are as much tourist expeditions with spouse as fabulous hunting experiences.

My wife and I did 17 days in Spain this April. I hunted Ibex and Roe deer. 4 days hunting and the rest touring the southern part of the country.

Those are indeed incredible reports. Like you, Mrs. Rimbaud and I have had so much fun traveling on hunts. For years, we would spend part of October at a friend's place in Lincolnshire for driven birds. We would always start in London, staying at the Goring or one of the grand hotels, and then load up on port and wine at Berry Brothers, and grab Cubans from JJ Fox, which supplied Churchill, so we could arrive with fun gifts for the hosts. We Americans have to represent, and represent well. We always had a big group of couples on those hunts, and also the one time that we went up to Scotland, near the Mull of Kintyre, for Sika. To this day, those are some of the best trips I've ever taken. I'm very excited to hunt Spain. The current plan is to hunt Gredos Ibex to the north of Madrid, and Mouflon in Toledo. Our son will join us, and he will hopefully have the chance to hunt boar. The little man needs to earn his hunting stripes. I love looking forward to these trips, and planning the itinerary. I am always stunned at the wealth of information that exists on this website, and the willingness of the members to share experiences and insights. I'm also stunned at how much money I've spent because of the members on the site, including a Blaser R8, optics, gear, and trips all over the world!

The UK sounds wonderful. The European adventure thing has become a regular expedition for Nancy and I. We were recently in Austria where I Hunted a bucket list Capercaillie followed by Venice and Milan for ten days. By the way, expecting a tourist trap, Venice in April is magic. This April we are off to Croatia where I'll hunt roe deer for a few days, and then we'll spend ten days on the coast playing tourist.

Both Madrid and and Toledo are magical cities. If you use Bob Kern, make sure he sets you up in a hotel in Madrid in easy walking or uber distance of the old city downtown.

Congratulations on the Capercaillie; an exquisite bird. I love Austria, and spent a few days at the Imperial before taking the train to Hungary to hunt stag. Vienna is the city of my great grandparents and it was quite something to return. In Hungary, we hunted along the Croatian border, and then around Lake Balaton. I wrote about that hunt in the October issue of Sporting Classics. I was with two friends - the guy with the Lincolnshire estate, and another buddy. Aside from when we are hunting, I don’t think we stop laughing or talking. We all have different professions and our conversations are wide ranging. My non-hunting friends tend to reflexively think that we hunters have blood lust, and it always surprises them when I tell them of our trips, the people we meet, and the authenticity of the experience which I think is not widely available to people who only frequent the tourist circuit. One of our daughters is out of college, and the other is a senior. We happen to have a caboose who is a freshman in high school (we had a very Merry Christmas one particular year), and my wife will not leave him to come along on most hunts - aside from England. When our son is in college, however, I hope to do just what you are doing with your wife. There’s nothing better. I appreciate the tip on the Madrid hotel. I will make sure that happens. I’ve heard the most wonderful reports on Venice. I hope to get there - and not during high season. You will be in Croatia in the blink of an eye. I envy you. I will likely hunt Canada in 2026 for moose, but otherwise staying stateside until Spain. It’s a good life, my friend.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
