It does not mention the country names of this “Caribbean government”… there are so many different nations there, it is hard to believe this unnamed organisation is representing anyone.

I’m married to a girl from Martinique, I can guarantee you that many of the Martinique people, black, mixed or otherwise, have a strong disdain and even hatred for their African brothers and sisters who sold their forefathers into slavery in Africa. My wife’s grandmother would not even allow her children and grand children to marry with a black person!

The “white coloniser” didn’t round up Africans, he bought the slaves from black slave traders in Africa. I think most of the Caribbean peoples have not forgotten this.

Unfortunately quite a few Americans my age get their information from an old movie “Roots” that showed white men on horseback chasing down Africans for the slave trade. It came out in the 70’s, it made no mention of the Arab traders or the strong African tribes preying on the weaker tribes.

Don't forget the Janissaries of the Ottoman empire. Now, technically they were not slaves in that they were paid salaries and had a high socio-economic status, but they started as child slaves. Started in late 1300s.
