Good Gun Deals This Week

All across Europe (EU), but it's only in theory. There are many steps, hurdles, and "mistakes" made by officials over there that will result in you not receiving your VAT refund. VAT is a Value Added Tax within the EU, so if something is shipped outside of the EU, it cant "add any value" within the area. When you're physically in Europe you have to provide your purchase receipts, fill out forms, get them stamped at your last point of exit, and then present them PLUS the items to a customs official to receive your VAT back. If you mistakenly packed them in your luggage and already checked your bags...too bad for you (me).

I suppose ordering online and having it shipped overseas may result in a better VAT refund experience...or not.
In Europe you can get a VAT refund for items exported. There is usually a minimum purchase for the VAT refund. The store has to complete paperwork for you to get stamped upon leaving Europe. The easiest way is to use Global Blue on your phone, but not all merchants use Global Blue, but you still have to get you paperwork stamped upon leaving Europe.

The UK no longer does the VAT refund, unless it's directly shipped out of the country. (The high-end retailers are very upset that the UK stopped as they are losing sales.)

Apparently, a small batch of Ruger M77 RSC rifles were chambered in 416 Taylor for the bicentennial in 1976. One of those rifles owned by a Ruger employee has come up for auction. I'm mentioning it since it's an interesting option that's suitable for African hunting. No idea if it will eventually go for a "Good Deal" price.

Ah thank you for the investigative work!

You’re welcome.

I just did a reverse image search of the pic Odonata had posted. The first link to come up was the GI ad. Probably took less time to do that than to write this reply!

Dang, thats pretty tech! May have to lookup how to do that

What many of you have been waiting for! However it's his only listing so you might want to pick this one up in person.

Surprised this isn’t Pending yet. Seems to be the darling chambering for so many folks. And while it’s a first listing, with some incredibly poor photo quality other than the primary photo, he looks to be in Coastal Bend of Texas…stones throw from Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christy…has to be a fella or two who could lay hands on it.

Two Heym 89B's NIB for sale in Germany...

500 NE: https://egun.de/market/item.php?id=20161906 -- 29K

470 NE: https://egun.de/market/item.php?id=20161876 -- 19.5K

Tarrifs will run you an additional 15% on the purchase price, and figure about $2k for import fees to the States, and six months to complete the process.
You should grab them Whit. Both. I don’t see additional Heym doubles imported to the US from elsewhere as a bad thing. And that 470 is drop dead gorgeous…my kind of rifle. Actually like the PH version of the 89b with the fine border scroll, but the wood is really lovely, and GrossBox so likely perfectly weighted.

I keep toying with the notion of getting my FFL, and if I did, would want the importers license too…for this exact reason. Wish I could sort the button to covert the auction site to English, and didn’t see either rifle on the dealers website…maybe because they have listed on the auction page.

Both beautiful rifles that would sell here quickly.

seems to good to be true... build time (I suspect) is a few years and more money than 26K at this point in time.

Last I heard from Sells the build time should be back to 2-years and under from time all details of order finalized, but price to build that gun would be at least $30k now, maybe a bit more with tariffs.

His price is a little above market (probably $22k USD from what I've been professionally told) but yeah... so many Texans going on safari. One of those rifles one could buy, hunt, hold and then re-sell in five years for at least the same amount.

I'm awfully tempted... they're both gorgeous.

This is generic "Good Gun Deal Advice" that I'm passing on to all of you. Sometimes a refersible defect is really turning off buyers and perhaps chilling the sale. This particular shotgun was a lovely 20 bore ejector that had 15" LOP and exhibition wood. It also had a tiny english straight grip. Best part? It weighs a very nice 6lbs.

What was wrong with it? People assumed this fiber optic abomination was drilled and tapped into the rib. It was not, it had 3M adhesive and I could tell that in the original ad. 20 Mins later, the abomination is in my trash bin and the shotgun is worth a grand more.

This is an identical twin to one of my son's guns and will be my rainy day gun or "guest gun" for those that stop in for a visit.

Keep your eye out for removable, tacky accessories on advertised guns.

Why in someones wildest dreams would they put something like that on anything other than a turkey gun? And even then, it's a big stretch!

I now you are commenting on VAT but I just want to say I found buying a DR internationally was interesting...from France was very easy and got the gun in 6 weeks. In Canada right next door took me almost 12 weeks or twice the time...crazy.

Has anyone here used Guntab? Reliable or a red flag?

As far as I can tell, no one ever seems to get a "Good Deal" on Kynoch 577-450 ammo. It's spendy whenever it pops up. But I also don't remember seeing seven boxes of it available with five of them still wrapped in their original plastic recently. I wasn't sure whether to post it here or resurrect an old 577-450 thread and append it there for the few people who might have a Martini-Henry rifle. But I thought it was worth a mention based purely on rarity for that one person who might be in need of some ammo / brass.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
