If genuine, even with modifications, that is a solid deal. Introduced the year prior than stated and I recall they initially had one cross-bolt instead of two here. I don't know if they switched to two as quickly as the second year on manufacture. Hmmmm.

No idea I have CZ various and Brno and if you are patient and willing to wait they come at 30.06 prices .. everytime my girl and me go to a Euro country I come home with one ...I live in Iceland so covered under Europe ..just pickup and fly

If they knew the actual caliber I might be inclined to buy it just to play with it..

I’m having a hard time believing Winchester let a rifle escape their factory during the time frame they think it was manufactured without the caliber marked on the barrel… makes me wonder if this wasn’t a project gun of some sort that an individual built rather then Winchester…

I think it's earlier than 80's, just based on the styling, but who knows. Yeah, I'm kinda curious to get it in hand as well and see. :)

I know nothing more about it myself other than the caliber and being a mannlicher schoenauer i believe.
Rifle is at the tradesman in rifle Colorado
970-625-guns

It is a Mannlicher--custom re-stocked, which does NOT add value to collectors. If you like it, you like it.
Might work better with a scope, but the whole balance thing will be slightly off.

I don't know that this is necessarily a good deal or not, but is a very curious rifle to me. I've never seen one of these before; does anyone recognize this model of Winchester?

Cabela’s has adopted a policy of listing the rifle using the name on the receiver regardless even if there are the custom maker’s marks on the rifle.

I bought a Winchester Model 70 .416 Rem from an online Cabela’s listing. The rifle had unusually nice wood and non-standard sights, easily worth the few hundred they asked for over others on gunbroker. Turns out it was a full custom build by a well respected smith with his logo on the barrel. When picking it up, I asked the guy at the counter why they had not listed it as a custom and he explained the policy.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
