How many people shoot 900 rounds out of their magnum hunting rifle in their entire life? Recoil less than a 300 win, when running the ABLR or similar you get some insane wind holds, or lack thereof. Pretty flat too inside of 500 for hunting without an rangefinder or with only a rough idea of distance. Even if you get 20 years out of it (roughly 50 shots per year), barrels on guns without iron sights are like tires on a car. More performance or doing burnouts means you gotta change the tires once in a while.
All true. Additionally, a little throat erosion never hurt anyone.
. As one slight exception, I did have a rifle in one of my favorite chamberings (.300 Jarrett) go to the gun doctor for a new barrel while still a toddler—about two years into life (1100 est. rounds). Long range prairie dogs rejoiced in its absence.
This one looks a little worn but I wish someone could lay eyes on it.

My experience says this is probably a $2-$3,000 tune up bill with JJ. So, in reality this is more like a $27K gun.
Sir, I'm not questioning; I'm just curious as to what leads you to believe it is heavily used and poorly restored?
I’m only providing my experience with an identical Rigby built in 1906 versus 1905 in the same caliber. While it looked great in reality it was off face, the right chamber would not fully accept a cartridge, the pan lever spring was completely worn out and regulation was terrible. Unless the seller provides information calling these things out as not happening on this type of gun like @rookhawk I am immediately suspicious given I have owned 8 DRs and @ rookhawk so many more. We both know when sent to JJ you can pretty much count on a $3,000 bill to make it perfect mechanically. I have no problem with that at all but someone buying this rifle not prepared potentially for that is on a fools errand. Just my experience
That’s pretty much what I meant when I said a little worn. I guess my penchant for understatement doesn’t come across online. I was meaning someone laying eyes on it could confirm.
I called first thing and after 20 minutes on hold they told me it already sold the day before. And it looks like they left a 2 off of the front.I thought I would mention the following rifle based on the manufacturer (I don't see many of their rifles) & of course the price. The chambering is uncommon.
There's an A-Square Hannibal in 338 Excaliber at the Bass Pro in Albuquerque that has been reduced from $2,400 to $599. That seems like a generous drop in price. Maybe someone forgot to put a "1" in front of the "5".

No need for specialty made, you can form it from 33XC brass really easily. The XC was inspired by it and while technically it’s its own case, the first XC brass was actually made from the same brass draw as the Excalibur, just sized down to slightly more case taper and different shoulder location. Make a False shoulder with a 358 mandrel, size in an Excalibur die set, fireform and done.
