Frankly I don't think they know what they consider homosexual. Why have I seen videos of taliban in Afghanistan in cities with plenty of women acting way too friendly to young, not super masculine looking white foreigners? I've heard ex military tell of similar stories having to watch out for similar men. I look at that as seeking out a preference. When I hear the "Women are for procreation, men/boys are for fun", I view that as seeking out a preference as you have referred to. I think it's a matter of semantics or masculine vs effeminate gay guy. The effeminate guy gets targeted. Maybe it's a learned preference.
