Tipping charter pilot

I search all over and could not find an appropriate section to write this question and you shout forgive me from posting here. The question I have is tipping charter pilot is an accetable maner, is something you guys consider doing it and what is the approximate amount.

I haven't either but honestly never thought about it. Do you tip a Flight attendant?
I probably would if i requested something special or different or they went out of their way for me.

I reason I brought this issue up because I saw in one of the african hunting on you tube that PH asked hunter to give something to the pilot

Tipping is getting out of hand.

Yeap, don't want the charter pilot sneaking off on an extended vacation and forgetting to pick you back up.

Drunk or Sober those landings can get "tricky". Any landing one can run, walk, homble, crawl, away from under one's own power is a good landing.

I don't know what the pilots or owner/operators are paid but for the cost of some of the short hop charters I've perused on outfitter websites, IMHO, they're paid enough. YMMV.

Charter pilots ususally hired by airline company and landing stripps are maintained for smooth landing by your PH . We tip PH and the whole crue at the end of safari, why not the pilot that your life is possibly in his hand.

That's what we need, more tipping. It''s gotten out of hand to be borderline ridiculous. Let's see, you charter a very expensive flight to get you from [pint A to point B. If that's accomplished great, that's their job. If not nobody is going to give you anything back but condolences.

I’m sure the charter pilot would gladly take a tip, but tipping is supposed to be for personal service. There isn’t much conversation going on while they take you from point A to point B it’s just their job. A tip isn’t expected for that role. I see no reason to offer one.

I agree with all comments, it is their job same as waitress, guy park your car and ext. so they remember you and give you excellent service when you go back to them. I don’t set the rules

I can see not tipping a charter pilot for short fly in camp and return.

On the other hand.....Now tipping a pilot to assist in getting trophies, some bush meat, some really good liquor, and ok maybe some cigars for those that smoke, home a lot quicker I would give the pilot(s) a generous tip.

But that's just me.

I’ve taken a charter flight on each safari to date and tipping the pilot has never come up. I wouldn’t tip a pilot on American or Delta. Plus with what we pay for those charter flights I just don’t see a need.

Maybe totally different, as I have never chartered in Africa. But in Alaska, I always tip my bush plane (charter pilot?). I wanna thank him and be damn sure he remembers where he dropped me. Long walks out there.

I don't understand the intent of your question.

Most outfitters, with exceptions, ask for payment be made in full prior to the start of a clients hunt/safari/activity.

I don't tip until services have been rendered.

Again, I don’t tip until I'm ready to depart and my tip, if any, is based on the services I did or didn't receive while physically present.

The only exception to tipping during a trip would be tipping temporary PH, tracker, skinner(s), others who have assisted in the hunt and/or recovery of my animal(s) while at a different concession.

As for transferring extra funds for the trip to an outfitter.

I have transferred extra/additional funds to an outfitter for my use during the trip so I wouldn’t have an excessive amount of cash on me while enroute. But this has only been done using outfitters I have previously used and trust.

I wouldn't advise nor advocate for anyone to send excess funds to an outfitter they have no personal experience or lengthy relationship with.
