I purchased an Enfield P14 from a member here, and I would like to replace the recoil pad to increase the LOP. Besides the usual recoil pad makers, are there any other you would recommend. I'd like to replace the pad with a red recoil pad. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Red 1 1/8” pad. Kickeez makes a good product and is a good company.

Another option is the NECG red 1 1/4” pad.. well made, look “classic”, etc…

Does Kick Eez 300 use a new formula than the old ones which got STICKY with age? That was my only complaint back when I last used one--it would actually pick up oak leaves, so sticky.

I have used the necg's in the 1 1/2 and kick eez 1 3/8 in pads on several rifles and shotguns to get the correct lop for me. You can also get NECG hard rubber spacers to add if needed.

I have heard Pachmayer stopped making red "Old English" recoil pads. Limbsaver doesn't make a red pad. Just as well. Their pads are too soft, especially for big bore rifles. For recoil pads there is a point of diminishing return re softness. Too soft and the recoil just sails on through. Can actually make recoil worse than holding bare wood snuggly against the shoulder.

I promise a limb saver will feel better than bare wood.
:ROFLMAO:

That is crazy

SORRY! I checked and it was the old Limbsaver pad that got sticky. I actually have no experience with KickEez...

NECG is an ideal recoil pad system to me.

It shapes easy enough if you freeze it, takes a good finish if polished with petroleum jelly, and is red. But I really love the hangar system they use to allow quick detach to use an alternative pad. I can use their thickest pad for myself and snap on the thinnest pad for my wife or a young shooter. This works best for mini or “mountain” rifles that are already lighter and shorter than traditional rifles.

Plus their pads aren’t squishy which I’ve never found to be a beneficial characteristic in a pad.

So you do have options. Whether we call them "Red" or "London Orange" they are all kind of in the same orbit.

Discontinued but still around: 1" Pachmayr Old English (its an orange version of a decelerator)

SW Silver pad: Available. but zero recoil mitigation.

NECG Pads: outstanding. They look like a Silvers, but they actually absorb recoil. They also have a 1.25" pad that is scaled proportionately. If you need more than 1", this one is a deceiver that doesn't look "wrong" at 1.25".

Galazan CSMC: They make a fake silvers pad that is 1.5". Very fugly. No recoil absorption. But it makes short guns longer.

Another vote for the NECG pads. I have several rifles with the 1.5" pad installed to get my LOP correct. My gunsmith is happy with how easy they are to grind and fit and they look very nice on a wood rifle.

I use Limbsaver Nitro pad on my .577NE and i like it.

Necg.

Without a doubt, NECG and Pachmayer are good.

I have long arms (35" sleeve) unevolved I know. I use Pachmayer Decelerators on all of my rifles including my 500 Jeffery. Instead of having spacers put in, I just use a Limbsaver slip on recoil pad when hunting or at the range and then take it off. A little more padding doesn't hurt with the 500 J and I haven't altered the rifle's LOP.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
