Hey everyone. I’m the standard cliche of the suburban white kid who grew up reading Capstick and Hemingway. I’m an adult onset hunter who goes after anything I can. I was lucky enough to get a nice Oryx out of southern New Mexico a few years ago. I handload and have an unscratchable itch for a double rifle. A safari is definitely in my future.

Welcome aboard from your neighbor to the North (Oklahoma not a Canadian)! Finally got my first safari under my belt and also have the double rifle itch going pretty bad. Will be deer hunting around Brownwood next month.

Welcome from an old geezer member to your east!

My great aunt, who lived in Dallas, bought me an autographed Capstick book from the Abercrombie & Fitch store that was there in 1983 for my high school graduation present!

Welcome, this group will give you plenty of itches to scratch

Welcome from Huntsville, Tx

Greetings Thearmymademedumb,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Double Rifles Rule.

When you get around to it, I invite you to have a look into the Khomas Safaris website.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

I'd love to own a double, but I'd rather spend the money on hunting with what I have. I have a 404J and a 9.3x62, both of which I can use anywhere. Even a used double is going to run me what I paid for both of those combined, and has much more limited utility than either of them. If I win the lottery, I'll get a double. If I don't, I'm pretty comfortable with what I already have.

A used 450/400 or 9.3x74R may provide the most utility if you want to take that route.

Welcome. Always glad to see another Texan on here.

:S Welcome:

Seems like you could do a lot of serious hunting right there in Texas but a safari should definitely be in your future! Welcome to the forum, good luck with your future

Welcome to AH from EC Hunting Safaris in Grahamstown, South Africa ! Glad to have you here. You’ll find a wealth of info here for both your itch, and your safari in Africa planning!
Enjoy the process and shout it you need more info.
Cheers
Marius

Welcome to AH Thearmymademedumb!

Hello and welcome!

Welcome from another adult-onset hunter in San Antonio. Other than Africa, Texas probably is the best place in the world to hunt.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
