Hello,

I am looking at a cancelation hunt for a hunt on the ice for these blubbbery beasts. I really like the reputation this outfitter has - they operate as a quality PH, managing the ecosystem, building relationships with the community and organizing unique trips to the artic. They appear to pay close attention to how wildlife is managed by the government and work with the government and the local people to ensure a healthy sustainable use. These things matter to me. I have been told that I have a child-like appreciation for it....

I found a hunt report for caribou that spoke favorably of them. But, if anyone has taken this hunt, or experienced this outfitter, I would appreciate hearing your insight. I understand the hunt is more about the cultural experience and the travel than the shot. It looks like a very unique trip.

I believe shots are about 50m. I am working on a load for the 400 H&H of a 400gr Swift A-Frame. Time is short so there is a lot of work to be done. It's a fun kind of work though!

Shane Black is the real deal.

None better.

Trip is booked and paid for. Rifle is dialed in with 400 gr Swift A-Frames. I head out August 1.

I look forward to the hunt report. Yes, it's more of a cultural experience than a typical hunt. Shots are not difficult and they aren't going anywhere. I haven't heard of anyone not getting one.

Oh no pressure now lol

Interesting hunt for sure, and an even more interesting cartridge! keep us posted!

Are walrus tusks importable into the USA? I would think this would make a fantastic trophy!

The Tusks are not importable to the USA. Have someone in Canada hold them for you and if ever importable you will know where they are .

The OP is Canadian.

@matt85 - I think you would need to drive up and drive them back into the U.S and that involves some risk - Customs would confiscate and fine anyone they caught doing that….Not worth the risk

That’s a trip I also really want to make, can’t wait to read your hunting report.

The outfitter ships to Advanced Taxidery. He says they do incredible replicas.

I hunted caribou w Canada North years ago and had a great trip

That is nice to hear. They really have a good reputation. And, from I have read, they invest in the local community quite a bit.

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
