I just acquired my first double, a Zoli in 9.3x74R. While checking it out I encountered something that struck me as odd. When I close the action the safety does not reset to safe (not a problem). Pull the trigger it goes click as expected. Pull the trigger again it does not go click. I have to put it on safe and then off safe to get a second click. Is that normal function or do I need to make a trip to the gunsmith?

Non automatic safety is the norm for dangerous game rifles. Single trigger normal operation is to cycle safety to fire second barrel. Sounds good to me.

I'm not sure from what was said if the second barrel is armed by pressing the trigger for the first barrel. Some actions require there to be some recoil from the first barrel to cock the trigger for the second barrel. If you were testing it with snap caps it may have been there was no recoil to re-set the trigger for the second barrel.

Just trying to understand what you are saying......if you are saying its normal for a single trigger double rifle to have to be put on safe then off again to fire the second barrel....then no that is not the case....same as with second barrel on shotgun with single trigger release and pull again.........as Ray said might need to have the first barrel fire to set the second one. But yes if dry firing you would need to reset same as with the single trigger shotgun where you would need to change the selector to the other barrel to make it go click...

It was not live fire. Anyone familiar enough with the Zoli action to say if recoil is needed to set second barrel?

Ask Zoli or the seller?

Found a number for Zoli in TX. Going to call them during business hours.

Pull the trigger, bang the recoil pad hard which should reset the trigger, pull it again. That's what I do when I put snap caps in my shottie.

OP,
THAT IS STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR MY FAMILY WEATHERBY O/Us WITH SINGLE TRIGGERS. Those are our guns for ladies and kids.
My Parker double guns all have double triggers as do my double rifles. I am old fashioned and find single, selective, recoil set triggers an abomination on a double gun.

TW, glad that worked for you. Go shoot and enjoy your Zoli rifle.

Single trigger doubles will require recoil to set the trigger for the second shot. I have always perfered 2 triggers thus don't any rifles or shotguns with only one trigger.

Glad you sorted out the issue, enjoy your rifle. You will like the 9.3x74R

Precisely why my double has two triggers.

Years ago I had a O/U 12ga 3 in with a single trigger, worked like a charm with 2 3/4 trap loads but with 3 in 2oz turkey loads it doubled every time, 4 oz of lead is tough on the turkey and stepping into 4-8 bore recoil will make sure you are awake. It went back to the shop I got it from...

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
