P14/M17 Enfields can be made into a beautiful rifle in almost any calibre
Savage 110 built in accuracy at an affordable price. Ugly action but simple and very accurate straight up. First company to offer left hand rifles.

#1 I agree if you qualify the Remington 700 made NLT 1990. I have a lovely BDL in 270 that has killed so many animals and seen so many great hunting trips that I bought in 1968. My youngest son still hunts elk with it today. Extremely accurate, a crisp 2 1/2 lb trigger, never a miss feed or a jam with thousands of round through it.

#2 CZ550 Safari Magnum built like a bank vault, makes any other commercial action seem a little flimsy, with a little work smooth as butter, yet not a bit of wiggle in the bolt. Put an AHR 3 pos Mod 70 type safety on it and the AHR single stage match trigger what a wonderful rifle.

#3 I prefer Daniels Defense AR platform rifles

Not really. Pretty solid rifles. Not very traditional looking, but who cares about appearance ? Their switch barrel system is pretty revolutionary and their action is pretty reliable.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
