Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

If I could only have 3 rifles (excluding shotguns amd handguns), I am going with.

.22LR (.22-250 close runner up)
.270 Win (or 6.5 Creedmoor)
.300 Win Mag

25-06
7mm mag
300 wm

mine would be:

25.06
35 Whelen
405 Winchester

Can't change my previous post but I'd change my list to:

6.5 Creedmoor
300 Winchester Magnum
416 Remington Magnum

...I love the versatility of the 416 Rem Mag over the Lott. The Lott is a serious bruiser, but the 416 can still hit with serious authority (over 5,000 ft-lb) while also being a pretty fast round with 300 and 350gr bullets.

.243
.264 win mag
.300 win mag

Damn this is a tall order...

For me, a 22lr is a must for regular practice.

For hunting:
270Win (My Brno zkk600 with its little plastic stock)
30-06Spr (My Brno zkk600 deluxe)
9,3x62 (My old Mauser )

And if I was lucky enough to try the dangerous ones I'd prefer a .404 Jeffery

Late to the game, but here goes...

.22 WMR
.375 H&H
12 gauge

There is nothing world wide that cannot be successfully hunted with one of these three rounds as long as “hunting” is the criteria. If personal protection needs come into play, the list would look a bit different. As would the ever popular question “if I could only have three guns...”

30-06
375H&H
458 Lott
But if I ever went back to using bailing dogs in the cane I'd have to add 44mag to this list.

Gotta love a .44 mag lever action:

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
