Hello everyone,
Imagen de WhatsApp 2025-07-15 a las 16.20.00_df7d7199.jpg

My name is Pepe Torres (José Ignacio), I’m 23 years old and from Mexico. Hunting has been a part of my life since I was a kid—I started hunting with my father at age 7, and since then, it has become my greatest passion.

Over the years, I’ve hunted both big and small game such as whitetail deer, collared peccary, nilgai, aoudad, bobcat, ducks, doves, and quail, across different terrains: mountains, forests, semi-desert plains, and wetlands.

I joined this forum because I’m looking for an opportunity to work with an African outfitter for 4–6 months. My goal is to learn as much as possible about African hunting traditions, tracking, field preparation, and overall safari operations.

I am not looking for financial compensation—just an opportunity to be part of the team, contribute through hard work, and in exchange have a place to sleep and food to eat. I’m very adaptable, physically fit, and willing to do any camp work or tasks that need to be done.

What I bring to the table:

  • 15+ years of hunting experience
  • Knowledge of firearms (use, safety, maintenance)
  • Skinning, field dressing, and meat preparation
  • Ranch work experience and horseback riding
  • Navigation skills (GPS, maps, compass), camp cooking, and outdoor survival basics
  • Fluent in English (C2), Spanish native, and conversational German

I currently study Law in Mexico (7th semester) and work in a litigation firm, but I’m willing to pause my career temporarily to make this dream a reality.

If you have any advice, contacts, or opportunities, I’d greatly appreciate your guidance.
You can reply here or reach me directly at [redacted].

Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction—I’m excited to learn from this amazing community!

Best regards,
Pepe Torres

Several AH members are attending a PH course together in the Eastern Province of South Africa in September. There is actually 1 bed left available if thats of interest to you. Information can be found at the link below:

It is important to know that while anyone can attend a PH training course, in South Africa you will only be allowed to sit for the licensing exam with the government if you are a South African citizen, or have a residence/work visa that allows you to live and work in South Africa.

For most of us attending the course in September it is simply to learn something new and to be given the opportunity to see things through a PH's eyes rather than how we've all seen things in the past (through a client/hunters eyes)..
