Winter is Here

Hi Bluey. I think fish from under the ice are better eating. They are cold to start with and never get soft and mushy from being warm. IF my work is slow enough I'll try to go ice fishing on Thur. Otherwise it will have to wait for New Years Day. Family tradition. End of the holiday buying season and I can have a day off. So we go ice fishing that day. Sometimes have to go to the Bighorn mtns to find ice. Not going to be the case this year! Bruce

I have friends that go every season and get some amazing fish!! To friggin cold for me though.

Nothing full time.. But I've been there and done that before. Starting during the pipeline days in the mid 70's.

I always got a bit whigged when riding a snowmobile across a frozen lake, can't imagine how puckered I'd be taking a truck across one.

where I used to live we took he ice road across to the island all the time, ferry in the summer, ice road in the winter, while its not as bad as some think, the scary time is spring thaw, all the snow melts which leaves about a foot of water on top of the ice, now that's when your mind plays tricks
I miss ice fishing though, driving the 4 wheeler or the pick up truck right to the hut

Dobber are you talking about a place in Sweeden or Switzerland or in that part of the world? I think I saw a documentary about the way they make the road in one of those areas. Can't remember where but they make it into a four-lane highway!! Amazing! I would be terrified but if one goes around the lake it takes an hour or more.

:) Fun fish to land. Usually put them back though. Bluey do you have a lot of sea urchins? I mean, do they ever happen to come aboard in the nets at all? One of my favorite things to eat hands down. YUM!! Next time I go to Jamaica I am going to feast on them.

I love that expression! Picked it up a few years ago on a business trip down under and brought it back with me. It's now well established where I work.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
