what is a good hotel to over night in Windoek. Last time I stayed at the golf and country club, I think. I'm looking for something more low keyed, with decent food

Here are some options for you: http://www.namibiahuntingsafaris.com/hunting-namibia/hunting-africa/#accommodation

Both the Afrika Sun Bed & Breakfast and Londiningi Guest House have nice breakfast. No lunch or dinner at Afrika Sun but possible lunch and dinner at Londiningi if you make prior arrangement for it.

Easy enough to get a taxi to get to town if need be or you can always contact edward: http://www.namibiahuntingsafaris.com/hunting-namibia/hunting-africa/#transfers.

Here is a nice place to have lunch or dinner: The Stellenbosch Wine Bar and Bistro: http://www.thestellenboschwinebar.com.

Enjoy your time in Namibia!

Thanks Jerome

Kalahari Sands Hotel is situated in the centre of the city - very nice and safe. You can have a light lunch at small bistros close to the hotel.
