Will this locking ammo box be acceptable to the authorities ?

Isn’t the ammo case supposed to be locked??
Per TSA, not required in the U.S., just boxed securely. Agree in Africa, shipped separately, the air carriers have different rules. Read Qatar and see if the part I have in bold makes any sense.

Ammunition

Checked baggage

Passengers may carry ammunition in their checked baggage on a Qatar Airways flight if it is declared to the airline at check-in. The required licences and documentation for their ammunition must be provided to the appropriate local authorities in the States they are flying to and from.

Only ammunition classified as UN0012 and UN0014 are allowed in passenger baggage, in quantities not exceeding a gross weight of 5 kg per person.

Note: What is a UN number? It is a four-digit number assigned by the United Nations Committee of Experts (UNCOE) on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, identifying a substance or a particular group of substances or articles. The “Safety data sheet” (SDS) of the ammunition will provide this information, generally under the Section 14 of the SDS.

Ammunition shall be packed separately from the baggage containing the firearm, inside a robust, secure container (i.e., a strong wooden, metal or fiberboard box or other packaging) specially designed to carry small amounts of ammunition and capable of being locked.

Ammunition may only be carried for individual use. Ammunition for use by more than one passenger may not be combined into one or more packages and carried by one passenger in the booking.

You are right, my international travel is quite limited, thanks for the feedback.
That's why we are here! Happy safari planning.

I've had 2 episodes of security in countries questioning the uses of MTM plastic ammo boxes inside my Pelican 1200, They stated that they weren't the original factory boxes when I explained they were "custom loads especially for Africa" they let it slide but were not happy! (in Windhoek the Ph stepped in and all was well, Harare they gave me the once over even looked at my serial numbers and my gun paperwork twice)
Now I make very professional looking custom labels with my name, address, passport number and load data on them. The label says "Western Ammunition Specialists" then "Custom Loaded" for ....my info
and stick them on MTM type boxes
Is it over kill, YES but I've not had an issue since and even had positive comments in Addis Abba on Uganda
Hey there would you mind if you could post a pic of your labels for the ammo cheers

when you mean the African authorities:
its perfect
In December, the airline transportetd my ammu box seperate from Joburg to Hoedspruit.
I saw my box on the tarmac with the other suitcases as I boarded the plane.
On the return flight, no one was interested in the remaining ammunition.

Not for Africa it’s for a ferry company England to France. Company say’s original manufacturers boxes. I’d have liked to have seen how professional his print looks. Might need to see if anyone here has some old 7x57 boxes that they would like to part with.

There are always business out there that you should be able to find to print a label that you can place on your ammo boxes.

Here is one that I found online.

If I can get something printed like this I think that would cover the bases.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
