What's your one favorite caliber?

If I could only own 1 centerfire rifle it’d be a Pre64 Model 70 in 375 H&H.

I love my quarter bores, and some other smaller cartridges (.223/5.56, 275 Rigby, 280AI, .308Win, 300H&H, 300WM, etc) but there’s NO WAY I’m giving up dangerous game hunting. I can always load something lighter for deer or somewhere I might need to take 400yd + shots. I can bowhunt for elk/deer/turkeys but there’s no replacing dangerous game hunting.

"What's your one favourite calibre".....as it doesn't ask what would be your only calibre....my m98 in 7x57 seems to accompany me in the cruiser more than the others....love it....biggest problem here is our ammo allowance, and when having a play with it , it's like shooting a .22lr the way you can go through ammo.....on another day it could be my 9.3x62 or 416 rigby...but the 7x57 just has something about it.......

As a twist on the what's your 3 favorite calibers thread I figured I would ask what is your number one can't live without favorite caliber?
The best adventures I had was with 375 H&H. That is the love. From the first moment i laid my eyes on her, and touched her with my hands.

In all around rifle class i have a "marriage of convenience" which I need to accept as a fact of life.
My caliber of choice is 7x64, but as it was not available in a rifle of my choosing I made a choice of convenience so I took 30-06. It is not as inspiring and fulfilling as 7x64, but it keeps up well to the task on hand. Doing its best, and trying to catchup with 7x64. I appreciate that. So I cannot get it to divorce from me, 30-06 stays.

My school sweetheart is 22LR. I will never denounce it. I grew up with it. I still keep it on hand. And shoot on occasion
So there you have it, with all realities, emotions, and life experience, the three ladies of my life:
375 H&H, 30-06, 22 LR.

For me. .300 Winchester Magnum. Killed a ton of critters with it. I have a Ruger M77 hawkeye in the safe that for years I called it my meat rifle. I have other rifles to use but for a long time if something just needed to die I grabbed that one.

Correct and same here. It's not my only caliber I currently own, but the 7x57 is for sure my favorite. With the exception obviously of dangerous game in Africa or the large bears here in the U.S. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot anything else with it.

Boring all doing all killing 375 H&H that I own now for 31 years since 1994.

But I must add this question posted is wrong in such many ways why only one gun man cannot live with only one gun alone. :ROFLMAO:

.375 H&H Mag. It's not very fast, but it's powerful enough. It is suitable for shooting both fox and elephant.

Great for bears. I took almost all of my bears from .375 H&H Mag.

And if we talk about choosing the only caliber for any game, then I choose it.

Favorite caliber 45
Favorite cartridge, well that’s a hard one. I’m new to the 375H&H, and I've been in love since the first trigger pull.
With that being said, I’d probably go with the 45-70. I’ve taken a lot of deer with it in my Marlin. Shot a lot of 200 meter matches with my trapdoor rifle.
the 45-70 is a good hunting cartridge for here in the eastern United States.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the 30-06, 348 Winchester, 243, 8mm Mauser, 45 Colt and the 45 ACP.
I’m also very fond of my 6.5 creedmoore too. I hunt 1 farm that gives me chances to shoot at longer distances and it gets the nod. Most shots are around 250 + yards.

Still I think for me in my area, the 45-70 is best

The .375 Holland & Holland magnum would be me choice in my good old Blaser R93 with its 2 scopes : the Leica magnus 2.4-16x56 with the ballistic turret and the Swarovski Z6i 1-6x24 will do the job for everything.

...what is your number one can't live without favorite caliber?

I am mainly a deer & hog hunter in the woods of the southeast USA so I rarely have the opportunity to take a very long shot. My nostalgic favorites are my two falling blocks in 303 British ever since I took my first deer with one. This is a really good round for a lot of the hunting I do & I like a rimmed cartridge in a breech-loaded rifle. I've taken the most deer with my 6.5x55. Shooting 140gr Partitions, this round will effectively kill everything I'm currently pointing a rifle at. The boringly dependable 30-06 is the only round I have three rifles chambered in & my left-handed Sako 85 Hunter is the most accurate rifle in my safe. I love my Winchesters (a LH 70 Safari Express & a 1885 Safari Octagon) both of them chambered in 375 H&H making them a smart choice for any future hunting when I retire soon.

But if I had to open a safe & pick just one today, I think my Ruger No. 1S in 9.3x74r gets the nod. I like its compact size & simplicity. With a Minox 1.5-8x32 scope on top of it & a choice of 184gr ~ 285gr bullets, it's a rifle I always enjoy shooting. However, my answer might change tomorrow since I'm really fond of them all...

375 Weatherby. Have a couple, wouldn't mind a couple more. Capable of taking anything that walks on this earth. As with all big bores I have been around, it is unbelievabley accurate in all my rifles.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
