Definitely a lechwe, a lot of ranches in Texas have them.

This could be an interesting story! What was he hunting turkeys with that could take down a lechwe? In Texas can you hunt spring turkey with a rifle? Are any of the neighboring ranches missing one of their relatively high dollar lechwe bulls?

A couple of the ranches I’ve hunted turkey and Javalina on south of Kingsville offered exotic hunting and had lechwe. One had a lot of lechwe and advertised them as Kafue, some farther south advertised their lechwe as red lechwe.

Good thing it wasn’t a Tasmanian Tiger!

Shoot first, ask questions later?

“Hey, it only took 18 Turkey loads, and 13 gallons of fuel on my John Deere Side x Side, but we finally got him!!”

“And thank god I’m a good shot and didn’t knock off one of those weird looking antlers”!!

“Plus I got a tag for a hermaphrodite blackbuck-whitetail cross I’ve been sitting on for years!”

“What we call a unicorn round these parts” “I called it supper”…

One of the great things about Texas is if it’s not a whitetail, mule deer, pronghorn or desert bighorn you don’t need anything but a general hunting license as far as big game goes.

Only in TX would you go out for a turkey and come back with a red lechwe...then the rancher told him the trophy fee and he got sick afterwards.

They sure do have a strange gobble though!

I think he had finished turkey hunting and was going back to camp , when he saw it
And had a deer rifle in the truck, a lucky stumble across as exotic animals aren’t usually found around the area

Someone needs to ride their fence. Murdering one on a game ranch would run $8-10K.

I realized I got a little carried away with my comments. It just seems so bizarre and random to shoot and kill an animal that you are not familiar with. I could appreciate a coyote or feral hog…

Lucky him , I usually don’t catch a break

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
