What is the purpose of carrying a knife out in a safari..

I hate multi-tools... carry a bunch of sh*t you almost never need, when what I always need is a good blade. Multi-tools, satisfy big boy's desire for tools and gadgets. Nothing pleases a dude more than whipping out an obscure tool to meet and obscure demand... even if it only happens once a year.

Dang straight!!!

Last trip out, I made up three gift bags to go along with.the cash tips... a Schrade belt knife, Lansky knife sharpener, Fishers pruning shears, folding Sierra saw and a Windchecker bottle. I heard back from the outfitter that the guys loved the items and used them regularly.

Men carry knives. Imagine a pretty lady, you pick the location and scenario…, doesn’t matter, …asks if you have a knife…and you answer no.

Keep yer powder dry and run em to me.
A girlfriend who I had back in college packed a folding knife in her purse, and that knife was sharp.

She told me that a girl never knows when she might need one.

Oof.... that goes against one of my life sayings..
You can tell how long a womans been single by how dull her kitchen knives are. If the knives are sharp you should leave. Becsuse her mans around.

@JimP - its interesting you had a girlfriend in college that “packed a folding knife” but REALLY INTERESTING that you knew it was “sharp”

I watched her us it while we were out fishing. She wanted to learn how to fly fish so we went out to a reservoir where she had lots of room for learning. Later that day we had fresh fish for dinner and she took care of a couple of willow branches to lay the fish on. She was also one hell of a shot with a muzzle loader, her dad got me into shooting black powder.

@JimP - nice story but NOT the one I was interested in - tell us about “Your scar” (we can hear about your Muzzle Loader “wound” later)

I can honestly say that I have zero scars from knifes, now for other things that have ripped and torn my skin are different stories.

But she was a good lady, we just wanted different things in life.

Nah, you f**ked up... scar or no scar. Lol.

I don't go to get milk without my pocket knife. (I know, not a fixed blade, but still a knife) I've had one in my pocket for 40 years, can't stop now.
I just don't feel dressed if I don't have a pocket knife with me.

I use most of the tools in my milti-tool quite frequently.

When I was still on active duty, my daily carry Leatherman even had blasting cap crimpers so I could prime charges. The small saw and file are used just as frequently as the knife blade, and the screwdrivers keep knuckleheads like me from snapping off a blade tip trying to tighten a screw.

You need it to slice your biltong into chewable pieces, it's just handy once in awhile to have a small pocket knife along.
