What do you do when your taxidermist wont respond to your text or phone calls?

Is he in the States or over seas? If possible show up on his front door step. If he is a SA taxidermist maybe get your Outfitter or PH to visit him.
 
That is a bit concerning, but there may be a valid reason. A bit more background would be helpful too.
How long has this radio silence been going on?
Where is your taxidermist located? How far from you? If not too far, knock on his door.
It is hunting season, maybe he’s squeezing in some time in the woods for himself.
Or
He’s got people stopping by night and day to drop off capes he needs to process.
If he’s not in your state or he’s in Africa that’s a bit more of a problem.
If in Africa, contact your PH or maybe the dip and pack company and see if they know anything or can contact him.

I'm going thru that now. I have been asking my taxidermist who I have been using now for several years for a quote on what I want done to my African shipment coming in. I ve left several e mail messages and have spoken to his girl who answers the phone twice. Still no call back. Guess I will use someone else who has recently helped me with an Ibex I had to have redone. I won't chase him down when I'm trying to give him close to 10k in work.
 
Show up at his door and demand he turn over the animals and any deposit money you have given him.
 
Somehow, determine if the guy is ill, hunting, moved or worse, out of business or dead.
If none of those then @Therack suggestion may be where you are headed.
 
If he has a legit reason work it out with him, if he does not, mention you will post his name, business on here for all to see.
Pick up your trophies and find someone else.
Then never use him again.
Use someone else phone number when calling.
I have been in taxidermy 30 yrs. and one year turnaround is understandable by most customers. I try my damndest to get the work out before the year, i may miss it by a couple weeks on a rare occasion(if i have a extended african safari).

Ted your 2 mounts are done and have been. When you brought in the safari you wanted to do it over a few years. So I paid out of my pocket for the tanning to be done for your skins and then you started making some payments with the 2 mounts done for 6 months and the cost of the tanning I paid I'm still to covered out of pocket but I was trying to HELP you for getting screwed so bad by your PH and DIP PACK. Your Kudu and Bushbuck mounts are pretty much covered by your 2500 payments but not the rest of the tanning charges. So much for trying to help.
I have your 2 mounts done for 6 months ready to deliver to you when I go to texas on a delivery YES. Have I gone there yet NO. I suggested shipping the mounts to you in crate via freight and you requested not to hand deliver them you asked. I ma setting up Texas as soon as all 5 safari's are done for the trip, It will be soon. Sorry are communication is not what you expect. My apologies . If you want the elk out of your freezer, hell I'll pay the shipping cost of the cape if you go buy a cooler to send it in fed ex 2-3 day delivery. Ps You talk to Jamie.
I get 30-40 calls or more per day.
The ONLY way to remedy me my communication issue is hire taxidermist that to me are less qualified and I just sit at a desk and answer the phone and they mount the pieces and you get so so work they produce not my quality.
 
Dennis, not the first time I have heard of bad response to emails. Maybe you need a person to respond. Hunting is a small world.

Good answer. I have no way of knowing if its true or not...but good answer never the less!!!

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.
