What are you reading?

I thought it was fantastic and didn’t find it attacking colonialism at all. And I thought it was actually quite complimentary to Corbett.
All good. Just my opinion. His start with how he thought the tiger was wounded lead onto him writing about greed which he then blamed on colonialism. But like I said I didn’t finish it. It’s book about tigers after all not about leopards so maybe the author changed his style like changing spots :ROFLMAO:

Strange Tales From The African Bush, by. Hanns Wessels. What a hoot!

I recently finished listening to Bush War Operator Memoirs of the Rhodesain Light Infantry, Selous Scouts and Beyond by A.J.Balaam and am now listening to The Legend of a Hunter in a Bygone Era by Ric Palmer-Wilson on Audible.

The Dark Tower series is good. I’m not one for King but it pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down
Yeah I'm not a big King fan myself but everyone I talk to has that series in high regard so just might give it a try.

The opening lines of the first book had me hooked way back in 87
“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.”
Only took him 20 years to finish the series. Shame about the film missed out some really good stuff.

Mr Sutherland was not as skilled a marksman as WDM Bell and seems to have been tossed about by tempo on more than one occasion.

Louis L’Amour, The Sacketts, Volume 2.

I am afraid this will be rather unhelpful, but a book written in Hungarian by one of the most famous Hungarian hunters Baron Zsigond Szechenyi who hunted all over the world between the world wars. Absolutely amazing expeditions he had...

Gulag Archipelago. Should be required reading globally for all high schoolers IMO.

(You can get rid of lots of the flies while you're at it.)
Or, at the very least, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. I read that in high school back in the early 70s.

Currently, "The Jewish War" by Flavius Josephus - G. A. Williamson translation.

While I am currently reading 'Ghengis Khan and the making of the Modern World' by Jack Weatherford (which I do recommend)
The one I'd recommend for those interested in Africa, that gets overlooked is this.

I am re- reading year of the pig by mark j hainds

My nephew is showing a large interest in hog hunting. Have not got him to want to use just a knife yet ( there still time)
Figured this would be a good book to gift to him.

My first issue of Field Ethos has arrived and I'm taking my time with it, hoping to find out if I'm an unapologetic man. Surely my tartan pajama pants are a good sign! I got sidetracked reading The Golden Bough, so I'm picking it back up. For anyone wondering, it's a study of comparative religion, myths, magic, rituals, taboos, etc. It's a classic and features heavily in the plot of Apocalypse Now.

Just finished book six of Ron Thomson called Game rangers at war. It is an outstanding read about the war in former Rhodesia at the same time really depressing.

Started directly with a book from Guy Sajer called The Forgotten Soldier about his time on the Eastern Front in WWII as a Wehrmacht soldier.

Finished the book. What a story and what unimaginable horrors the guys at Eastern Front had to endure. Really something I would say you have to read once in your life.

Following this up with another B&C classic called Camp-Fire on Desert and Lava. Enjoying the read so far.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
