Warning on new Leupold scopes

I've come to the conclusion we're living in a nanny country and it's getting worse every day. My state is proposing legislation to stop eateries from giving out ketchup packs and plastic eating utensils unless requested. So if I order a salad, I guess it's assumed I'll eat it with my hands. It'll pass. We're a quasi-socialist one party (Democrat) ruled legislature and governorship state. It's sad.

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 16 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO REDUCING THE AUTOMATIC PROVISION OF SINGLE-USE EATING UTENSILS, CONDIMENT PACKETS, AND OTHER ITEMS.

Original Synopsis:
This Act prohibits food establishments from providing any single-use food service items, whether plastic or not, unless specifically requested by a customer. This Act also requires a written notice to be provided to a food establishment or third-party delivery service that violates the Skip the Stuff Act allowing the entity to correct the violation within 30 days. This Act is effective on January 1, 2026.

Button Batteries are already sold in a container that needs a special tool to open it/them. Try and open one without a knife or scissor. Thats exactly the point...

I have not noticed that, unless you’re referring to scissors as a “special tool”.

Perhaps now, motor oil and hot sauce are next ?

Evidently Alaska (where I live) has not caught up with the modern times yet.
Button Batteries here are sold in “blister packs”.
You cut down one side with scissors, pocket knife, etc. and dump said batteries out.

Guess you’ll have to procure some stainless steel chopsticks that you can bring to and from an eatery? Maybe some take down ones in a black velvet bag that will fit in your pocket? LOL Unbelievable really. I hope the radical Democrats running Colorado don’t get wind of this.

you have not lived untill you have spread cow shit on a very windy morning, useing a old john deere tractor with a hand clutch. my two brothers and i had brown care hart looking coats. we milked 100 cows by hand then i was 11 years old. farm work was very hard then with not much money in it.

This sounds like a great small business opportunity. Make a better cap cover to replace the factory cover.

I agree, knife or scissors. But down here in the lower 48 in so cutting the packaging you only release one battery at a time.....

But I'm told Alaskans are tougher and so are your kids so no worry of choking hazard....I mean come on you live amongst grizzlies and moose! My wife sees a mouse and runs for cover!

i worked on a farm from 1949 to when i was drafted and a child labor lawyer of today would have had nightmares about the conditions we worked in every day.
Glad you made it out okay.

It was not far from that time when Jack Cash, Johnny's younger brother, was almost cut in half by an exposed table saw at age 15. He lingered for 8 days and then died.

In that regard, things are better today.

Austin Texas had the "Single use bag ban"... so the thin plastic shopping bags were made illegal inside the city limits and any bags had to be at least 3mil thickness; grocery stores instead switched to reusable shopping bags that you had to purchase.

However, if you went to ANY ethnic food restaurant in the city for a to go order they would ALWAYS hand it to you in one of the banned bags and the city only enforced the law on large chain stores.

Eventually the ban was shot down by the Texas state legislature, just like the public camping initiative that resulted in Austin becoming filled with homeless encampments.

Time and time again the state of Texas has to step in and save Austin from itself.

Like when the city of Austin was crying to "defund the police" - Governor Abbott stepped in and said that if they defunded the police then the residents of Austin were under no obligation to pay their property taxes........ GAME SET MATCH & OVER!

Wondering if OP could post a pic or 2 of the cap so we know exactly what's involved? Thanks

Hell with that I survived in a household that was full of guns, ammo, chain saws, circular saws, knives, lead paint, and other such things. Watch your children and teach them how to be safe around guns ammo and sharp things. Government should not be involved in things they do not under stand. Show me something our goverment gets right. Government is no replacement for parenting.
Very well stated, unfortunately there are sheeple out there that expect the government to protect everyone from everything. As I side comment if your child has access to play with your scoped rifle without adult supervision YOU have a lot bigger problem that the battery in said scoped rifle !!!

The government is definitely no replacement for good parenting, but I don't think anyone would be surprised to hear that there are lots of really crappy parents out there. You don't have to get a license to be a parent.

So the question really is, what should the government do to help reduce the harm to children without good parents?

And it is not a question of scoped rifles. It is a regulation that applies to all batteries of that type, regardless of device they are in.

Interestingly, it is not only a problem/risk for children. There are a significant number of the elderly who are being harmed by swallowing these batteries or getting them stuck in their ear canals.

Not a single thing. The last thing we need is the government having power over the family and to override parents.

Look at what was unleashed by the last administration saying parents had no right to know or stop their child being turned into a tranny.

Next they will say you evil toxic men are turning the children into monsters owning guns and going hunting as an easy example.
So you disagree with the Tennessee law that prohibits parents from having their children undergo "gender-affirming" care? Because that law overrides parents every day.

It's okay if parents don't want their kids to wear seatbelts?

Or it's okay for J.W. parents to deny their children blood transfusions?

I don't know man, there are good policies and bad policies, but there are a lot of crappy parents out there leading to a lot of harmed children and if the government is not there to protect children and the elderly, I am not sure what it is for.

This will probably end up the same as the old gas can spout design. A bunch of jackwagons in a Law Office decide to sue on a clients behalf, blame the Blitz fuel can company for their can and spout design because a moron spilled gas on a hot mower and caught himself on fire.

The company discontinues the old design and introduces a new spring loaded safety spout that is a total pain, and spills more fuel than the old design.

Some enterprising entrepreneur makes a straight spout almost identical to the old design and sells them as a fuel can accessory.

....and we're right back where we started.

Mutilation is mutilation

Seat belt yea up to the parents
I have buddies that have bought early 60s trucks because there no belt.
No belt no tickets.

Religious exemption has all ways been a thing on this country and should be.

Religious exemption is not absolute in the United States. Never has been, never will be.

Children dying because of their parent's stupidity is a tragedy that we can help prevent.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
