I'm looking for a .375 H&H for an upcoming hunt in the fall is 2019. It doesn't have to be a work of art as all of my rifles have been purchased (and used) as tools. However it does need to be in good working condition. The closer to New England the better but will consider all. A neighbor is a licensed dealer. Thanks

I know personally the first seller, my family were friends with him when I lived in Nicaragua. He is/was a great gunsmith (very old now) built several pieces for my family. I think his son is running the business now.

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out. Hopefully I can find an owner that knows his rifle inside and out but no longer needs or possibly has upgraded it.

There are also a bunch in Cabela’s gun library. Plenty of CZ 550’s among them.

Are the mark x really that much lower quality compared to, say a FN?

PM sent.

Mike, sent you a pm.

I have used rifles that had '98 style actions made in Belgium by FN and I have known people that had rifles such as the Mark X that were '98 style actions made in Yugoslavia. Other than the stampings and some final polishing, there was very little difference that I could see between them.

Fair enough! They seem to have an online reputation of somehow being one of the “lower quality” mausers on the market. And it’s seems to be reflected in their price point as well. Maybe they’re just a helluva deal, and I should be scooping them up!

I owned a MK X in 375HH and the biggest mistake I made was selling it to buy an M70

Weatherby Mark V .375 H&H, $700 plus shipping. Selling for a friend who moved back to England and couldn't take all his rifles. Was backup to his double rifle in Africa. Very lightly used but has some travel/storage marks. Leupold rings.

Thank you for all of your assistance and replies. I have decided to purchase a Winchester Super 70 that was manufactured in my home state of CT. I appreciate all of your help

Lobsterman.........you bought one of the best dollar values going in a 375 H&H....................good shooting...................FWB

I'm not sure if I need to start another thread but since I've got the rifle purchased I just need to find a gunsmith to put some finishing touches to it. When Winchester was still in New Haven CT they had a custom shop but not any more.
Any recommendations for a good quality gunsmith to add rings scope and possibly muzzle brake? Someone located in the northeast preferably but not necessary. This state has done a fine job of running most of the gunmakers away.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
