Ugly question: 9.3x62 vs .338WM

Is there anything the 9.3 won't kill just as dead under 300 yds? A good friend shot a hog at 150 yds and killed the one behind it and exited as well (should have planned that better). Never had a 338 and don't feel the need but I suspect its the better choice over 300 yds....but that's not my territory.
I know that penetration is a combination of bullet construction, its sd, speed and many other factors but i found the 9.3 as one that really seems to punch through...

@OldnLazy
Had the same thing happen with the Whelen and 225gr Woodleighs. Mate said I didn't hear you fire 2 shot. Reply I didn't.
I was at the range on the weekend with @peter Who having a play with some of his toys.
The 9.3x62 he has (a sauer I think) had that stupid hogs back comb.
Even with a firm hold that bitch of a thing belted me up the side of the head. Bad stock design for me. Cured me of shooting his 9.3x62 ever again.
I would be happier letting loose with 10 35 Whelen rounds loaded with 310s at 2,460 fps than that horrible rifle.

To my addled mind, stock design has a big heap to do with perceived recoil; Ruger No 1s are prime candidates for stock replacements in the heavier calibers ...

Fit is everything in a stock, goes double when you get above 30 caliber.

Sneeze? Hell in that platform it would bloody your nose every time you pulled the trigger!

lol! My XCR II in 375 Weatherby weighs 7 1/2 lbs total with sling and a Leupold 2-7x scope. Recoil is a bit snappy with 375 Weatherby rounds, but actually very gentle with factory 375 H&H 300g A-Frame cartridges

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
