My wife shooting her pre 64 model 70 in .375 H&H Leupold VX-6 fire dot

We set up the target in some brush with a lane to shoot through. A hair under 60 yards

I made her rush and tried to put some pressure on her. Her first two shoots were low and left . Marked in blue.

Had her get back on the sticks, aim higher and shoot 3 more quickly. Marked in red

I told her higher and the next volley of three were in yellow. But I didn’t take a picture before tearing down the target.

Next time. I’ll put targets out where she doesn’t know the location. I’ll throw the sticks up and show her the target and pressure her to shoot

not bad at all.

That dot size is designed for hunting and highly rated! She's ready for moving shots now!! Perhaps some folks in DC that aren't busy working can run through the brush holding either end of the target??

Up until today it’s all been shooting for groups. Today we wanted realistic practice.

Get on the sticks and shoot quickly

I’d like to see her consistently putting them in the yellow area while rushed.

I did tell her to aim more foreward since the bull is quartering to us

Fortunate to have a range to practice as such. We run similar drills with a lighter caliber (on the same chassis) to practice field conditions under pressure, moving up to the larger caliber prior to hunting. Pays big dividends when hunting.

Good for her!

She is close to being spot on. I'm told women take shooting instruction very well. Perhaps because they actually listen and hear what is being said. How will your ego take it if she ends up a better shot than you .... ?

Im proud to say my daughter is a better rifle shot than I. She took 2nd in our state championship NRA .22 caliber. a boy her age beat her slightly

I think on average woman can shoot as well or better than many males

Great target, are they still available anywhere?

I found some others with a quick internet search.

Good practice. Moving - making a decision - sight - shoot - reload - shoot again. When I was starting to practice with my Krieghoff.470NE for a Cape Buffalo hunt in Zimbabwe, my PH came to visit during his round of Hunt Shows. I was shooting a target at 50 yards off sticks and doing quite well. He told me that my practice was unrealistic and advised me to place two targets at 50 yards and a second set at 50 yards about 25 - 30 yards to the right. He instructed me to shoot the left target in the left set, then the left target in the right set, then run 30 yards to the right while reloading the Krieghoff and then shoot the right target in the left set and then the right in the right set. Using 2 targets in the right and left set forces concentration and decision making. Red loading in the run is good real life practice. I purchased an elastic wrist band that held 2 cartridges on my wrist, perpendicular to my wrist which speeded up the reload. I did a lot of practice and became quite proficient. The actual hunt consisted of three days of tracking and busted stalks before a quiet stalk and a one shot kill on a nice bull. Still, it is nice to know that, if I had to, I could have.

Agreed. Look up Kim Rhode if you don’t know already. Six time Olympic medalist.

I may take these sticks. Dalton said to bring them if I like. They weigh 3 pounds like the traditional wood sticks are. But bulky

If I have the room maybe

Ed, good suggestion. Maybe we can shoot the Buffalo off sticks then I can have a traditional target closer and to the right so we have to get off the sticks. And shoot free hand quickly.

I will be practicing this way also

Altitude: Your Wife needs to be able to shoot regardless of emotional stress, next time as she’s about to shoot at the target - tell how how much you ”miss your old girlfriend”, that you want to “give her a call” etc.. Then she how many rounds she can still get in the bullseye !! If she can’t hit the X ring 90% of the time - take your old girlfriend on Safari..

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
