So dreams of elephant tusk in my house are still alive, but for now I have additional warthog tusk.

Tonight I began the building process for this display.
Staining and gluing still to come

Starting off with 1x10in board
Cut 3- 4x4in squares
1- 5.5x5.5in square

I used a table saw to make sure it was cut straight.
Then used the miter saw to cut 20° angles to make a transition from base to pillar.

Then used a paddle bit to cut a hole in the top board only.

Then sanded out to fit the tusk along with taking out just enough of the second to ensure a solid fit.

I will glue and connect fully after it is stained later this week.

I will follow up with the next steps as I am able to work on this project!

Cool. I have a set of warthog tusks that I picked up off the ground last year at KMG. They've just been sitting on my dresser since then as I couldn't decide what to do with them. You have spurred me on to think of something now!

Ok you got real

You may be building your own pedestal base with those fine woods.

Looking great! make sure you fill the tusks with an epoxy or something similar as they will split and crack later.

Hey, that’s where my table saw went.[emoji6]

That’s the plan. I’ll fill it and also use epoxy to hold it in place.

“Here hold on to this until I need it again”

And in 2 years you haven’t needed it to my knowledge...

Well keep hanging on to it. Looks like you are developing the skills to build the bases for my elephant tusk. After you take me on that elephant hunt(y);)

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
