My wife and I just booked our airline tickets for our safari in south africa and we are beyond excited! We booked through gracy travel and will be taking the delta flight from dfw to atl to Johannesburg and staying the night at the citi lodge and our outfitter will be picking us up the following morning. We are hunting 27 June to 3 July with kuche

Good for you and good call on using Gracy and Citi Lodge. Bruce will take good care of you.
Best of traveling and hunting luck.

Awesome! My PH who I hunted with is now with Kuche. He sends me pics all the time.

You’ve selected some very nice animals to hunt. Surprisingly, impalas can be a challenge sometimes, especially if there’s a herd of 20+ of them.

What caliber of gun have you decided to use?

Gemsbok and blue wildebeest are my top 2 animals i really want on this safari. I am still in the decision process doing lots of shooting and reloading for the rifles but I know for sure I am going to be bringing 2 rifles so that way we have a spare in case something happens. The spare will be my 7mm rem mag with 175 gr nosler partition going 2686 fps. The other rifle will either be my 30-378 wby which my kids really want me to take because it holds alot of sentimental value (it was the 1st rifle I bought myself and saved for years for it, and I have taken alot of different game with it) the wby is shooting 199 gr stone hammers at 3120 fps, or my 8mm rem mag shooting 200 gr tsx at 2900 fps. I know all of the options will work just fine so I am going to take whichever I am shooting the best off the sticks and feel the most confident with. To throw another wrench in the plan I also have a 375 h&h which i shooting really well along with a 300 wsm that shoots 165 gr ttsx like a dream

You definitely have a great array of rifles to choose from, all are great choices, all would take what you are after. Picking your favorite out of that list will be a 'good' challenge.

Enjoy the process of packing, repacking, overthinking everything, it's all part of it and sometimes my girlfriend thinks I enjoy that as much as the hunt itself! lol I should be ashamed to admit I've been packed for weeks for my next hunt, which is yet another 3 weeks away! lol

Good luck Sir on planning this next great adventure! I hope you make many wonderful memories!!

That is great that you are finally going. Enjoy this planning and looking forward phase of the trip. To me it is almost more fun than the actual trip! :) It definitely lasts longer!

We just returned from hunting with Kuche Safari's last Wednesday. I can say for my first trip to Africa it couldn't have gone any better. We stayed at Avant Garde Lodge, which was very convenient. We enjoyed everything about the trip! It was just perfect, not too fancy, and definitely not roughing it. Food was so good, and everyone was so nice. I haven't been back for a week yet and am figuring out how to go back!! That will be a great time to go. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!

That sounds awesome! I am looking forward to reading your report. We are beyond excited about our safari and have always talked about it but this trip just kind of fell in our lap so we decided to just go ahead and take the plunge together

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
