I reckon there are a couple of pretty cool single vendor options.

.275 Rigby
.350 Rigby
.416 Rigby (or .450 NE)

Alternatively

.333 Jeffery
.404 Jeffery
.500 Jeffery

I took a 3-rifle battery on my very first safari, which was a 24-day affair in Zimbabwe. Since I had everything from Grysbok to elephant on license, except for a lion, I figured I needed a light, medium and heavy rifle. I took what I had at the time:

Ruger M77 in .270 Winchester
Ruger M77 in .300 Win Mag
Colt Sauer in .458 Win Mag.

I used all of them, but used the .270 & .300 for everything except 2 buffalo and the elephant. I did another 24-day hunt in Botswana and took 3-guns but then it was:

Model 70 in .416 Hoffman
Model 70 in .338 Win Mag
Beretta A-302 in 2 3/4” 12 gauge.

These days, I usually take a 2-rifle battery consisting of my .338 and .416. If I only take 1-rifle it’s usually my .375 H&H.

I like it gentlemen. Let's take it a step further in being specific. It's 1920 and you are heading on a safari in Kenya. What rifles are you taking with you? Here are my picks:
.275 Rigby bolt action
.350 Rigby bolt action
450/400 NE W.J. Jeffrey double rifle
.470NE Rigby Rising Bite double rifle

.577 Nitro Express - Holland & Holland Royal double rifle

.416 Rigby - Rigby Big Game bolt rifle

.275 Rigby - Rigby Highland Stalker bolt rifle

I have two of the three, and am working on the missing capstone…
They say if you want something, put it out there in the universe…apparently this sometimes works!

My final piece of the puzzle, a Holland & Holland Royal circa 1939 in .577NE 3” (for 750g):

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
