Thoughts on the CZ550

@spike.t is right. The 550 has been out of production for awhile now. I looked at the screenshot provided and checked out czarmshop.com. It’s not the CZ website. According to Google AI:

czarmshop.com is a suspicious and most likely fraudulent website. It impersonates the legitimate firearms manufacturer CZ-USA to deceive customers.

He would know what? Pretty much everything about rifles lol? Or if cz stopped making the Safari Magnum. I mean it's for sale on their page, so I don't see it being discontinued,unless they're just selling overstock. I wouldn't want to bother him for this.

Where did you get the 3 position safety? Also, is that an aftermarket stock?

I have a CZ550 in .404J and would like to upgrade both the stick and safety.

I just bought a safety and trigger for my 602 from them.

Also Bell &Carlson make an excellent synthetic stock, I got one for my 602 as well.

Not saying this is intentional on your end but this is almost certainly a scam website

CZ ceased all production of the 550 in March 2020.

It may be possible to find one NIB in a distributor warehouse or a dealers stockroom, but not from CZ.

If you really want one, check in the Africa Hunting Classified section. At least one or two a month come up.

there is a group of people here trying to humbly help you avoid being scammed, would recommend you take their thoughts and advice to account instead of responding in argument with them

And yes, I’d say Wayne at AHR know quite a bit more about rifles, and particularly CZs/BRNOs, than most of us summed together

I think that website is a scam, there are dozens of websites similar to that trying to scam people

I must be one of the few who isn’t a fan of my 550. The action is HARD on brass compared to my m70. It is far from smooth and over all, the rifle is not accurate. I’ll build on an m70 action way before I looked at a 550.

A question, maybe a little bit out of theme:
Why are safari rifles often fitted with a red rubber pad?
Ages ago, I was taught that black rubber last longer, due to the lubrication provided by the carbon black. To the best of my knowledge safari cars and bakkis are fitted with black tyres.

Okay I'm down to picking a gun out. I'm going to either go with a CZ 550 American Magnum in 458 lott and get a new safari stock for it that is more my style, or I'm going to go with a CZ 550 Safari Magnum in .458 Win mag with the true Safari stock and iron sights.
The way I understand it the CZ 550 is the standard for Safari bolt guns? Are there any other guns you would recommend? I don't like the blaser straight pull. What about the Ruger Hawkeye African in .416 Ruger? I already have a 375 Ruger. Would you go with the CZ American 458 lot of the CZ 550 Safari in 458 win mag? And is there anything bad anybody has to say about a CZ rifle?

Winchester Model 70 Alaskan in .375 Holland & Holland Magnum or Safari Express in .416 Remington Magnum

Heym Martini Express in .404 Jeffery, .500 Jeffery or .505 Gibbs

Mauser Model 98 Magnum in .375 Holland & Holland Magnum or .450 Rigby Magnum

John Rigby & Co. Big Game in .416 Rigby

Frankonia Forest Mauser in 9.3x62mm Mauser (this caliber is only legal for all the African dangerous game species in Zimbabwe & Cameroon and for the great cats in Zambia).

I really also like the looks of the new Park West Model 76 rifles, based upon the pictures which I’m seeing online. But I’m yet to personally fire one.

czarmshop: That's a scam website in my opinion (as some others above have pointed out).

I've also seen these scam websites with amateur astronomy equipment. They're surprisingly commonly found even though amateur astronomy is a much smaller consumer market.

In the amateur astronomy world, here's some obvious signs of a fake / scam website:

* Prices are too good to be true​

* Long out-of-production items are for sale and are listed as available​

* Sketchy details about the company's identity​

* No physical address listed​

* No telephone number listed​

* Doesn't accept major credit cards for payment.​

* No details listed about Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and other legal matters​
