RIP Robert Redford not only a great actor but a great person that did lots of good. Established the Sundance Festival. Not sure they make them like him anymore. Nobody mentioned but The Way We Were with Barbra Streisand was a great movie that captured so much of the times and so much we lost. Sad. Jeramiah is hard to beat.

I really like Jeremiah Johnson but yesterday, when I heard his death, my first thought was his character in Out of Africa with the beautiful Merryl Streep and especially the lion scene.
I really like the Holland & Holland double rifle he used to carry.

I will put Jaws firmly in my top 5. Robert Shaw was amazing.

If this is turning into a best movie ever made thread I cast my vote for Lawrence of Arabia. Definitely the best cinematography.

But Redford has a deep a great catalog.

Nah... I think there is already a thread for that. This was remembering Robert Redford, and me feeling a tiny bit of my childhood slip away, while remembering his movie and that role that had such an impact on my young life. Given the gist of this site, I strongly suspected I was not alone in that. Trapping became my passion after that movie, and helped pay for college after HS. Here was a day on the line during college.

McManus had a really good story about wanting to become a mountain man, when he was a kid, and, as an adult, wondering where it all went wrong. I sometimes wonder the same thing. At age 58 is it too late to buy a horse, a Hawken, and make it happen?
