Straight-pull Mauser 98

Gotta be nerve wracking to pull the trigger on a M98 knowing you didn't pull the bolt down. Like to know what's holding it in battery.
@BeeMaa
Put your glasses back on mate.
Looks like it still has dual opposed locking lugs. If'n you look closely you will see that the bolt head sits out from the bolt body when it's open. I would say it has some sort of internal cam mechanism to rotate the bolt head would be my guess. But what would I know.

Do as you wish my friend. I’ll sit over here and watch. Report back on your findings. ;)

Hard to call that a straight-pull 98. There are several features of a 98 bolt that are impossible to achieve with that setup.
It is a M98 receiver, but not a M98 bolt.
Just rely in German engineering.

That's what it looks like to me as well. It certainly adds a degree of complexity where none is needed.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
