My only 'London' times, more than I can count on my fingers, was always waiting on a plane. White Horse pub, Bath Road outside Heathrow, kept me out of trouble. So, never went downtown at all, especially not to H&H, and never figured there was a point to it anyway. If I could ever afford one, which will be 'never', and that's a 'good thing', I'd be a nervous basket-case wreck hunting with one, thinking about that thorn that just scraped it. Makes any old Mauser that you customize yourself feel right at home.

Silly humor. Someone more knowledgeable than I will have to explain the differences.

Yes, they include the service as a standard offering. That said, a fully bespoke order on a double rifle will likely take three to five years, depending on your requirements.
Purdy's has a similar wait time on their double. It's a good thing; there is still a market out there for these expensive guns.

Well said Bob.

The World is starving for a bit of art. Unfortunately all my budget allows for is a set of Crayons.
@skydiver386
I acct left my crayons on the heater, now I can't even draw a stick figure. They were the newer wax crayon and just melted into a big multi coloured blob.

I watched a relative of a friend spend right at one mil on a matched very very ornate set of holland and holland rifles at a show. Bid on em and felt he got a good deal.

I’ve always heard from English friends that wives never know much the husbands have spent on their shotguns until the husband has died. Then, the estate appraiser comes in and the wives nearly faint when they realize that their husbands spent so many pounds on a Purdey or H&H.

I had a girlfriend in college whose father wasn't in the picture. When I first met the mother and she found I hunted she asked if I wanted the girl's grandfather's old shotgun. Thinking it was an old Browning or something I said I would take a look. Out from under some blankets in a closet comes an oak and leather case holding and absolutely gorgeous Purdey game gun from around 1920. She said she didn't really like having it in the house and if I would use it please take it. Lord knows how it

Well the angel on my shoulder beat up the devil on the other one and after some explanation I helped them find an auction house. They weren't super well off and the proceeds were pretty meaningful for them. It is a miracle it hadn't all rusted or something, I guess the dry San Antonio climate was a blessing.

That is an incredible story. A lesser man would not have made the right decision.

I will not lie there were times I regretted it, not for the gun so much as what the 5 figures of $ would have meant to me back when I was scrambling to pay rent. But I've done all right and can sleep at night.

Very few people are left who can tell a story of honor.

@Russ16
Better sleep in a tent in peace than in a mansion with a guilty conscience.
You did the right thing others may not have.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
