Scottish Highland Midges

My apologies in advance as this is not really a hunting question. My wife will be traveling to Scotland in early September as is concerned about midges'. Does anyone have recommendations for repellent and/or netting to wear while hiking? If anyone has personal experience that time of year that would be helpful too.

Was in Scotland in July. Used a product called "Smidge". Bought over there. Worked well. Midges were only an issue when hunting Roebuck. Usually had enough wind to keep them at bay.
